Between these selections and the Veteran's Committee; I don't think anyone SHOULD get in this year. That being said, I'd be surprised if that happens because of Money

The correct answer is Manny and Arod

Andruw Jones is a lock with this ballot.

Probably, though its just silly to say someone isn't a hof because there were better players every other year they were on the ballot, but now they are.

I wouldn’t mind if Abreau, Buerhle, Jones, Wright, and maybe KRod get in.

I also won’t be upset if they all don’t

Yeah it's definitely rough considering Ryan Braun and Cole Hamels are the top two first year entries.

Andrew Jones and Carlos Beltran can both sneak in due to such a weak ballot. Chase Utley will also have a small chance to sneak in due to the "muh peak" argument.

Agree, Hamels is the only new candidate I would like to get 5% to stay on. Beltran and Jones have a chance to cross the line. I could see both, one, or none as equal chances. I can still find 10 votes (exactly 10) on that ballet. I would fully admit half of those I don't think realistically will ever make it.

Of the players with no cheating baggage.

King Felix
Hunter
Jones

I don't think those guys would see totally out of place in Cooperstown.

King Felix has a 117 ERA+, hardly hof worthy. He had 3 great seasons. Is that enough? He threw about as many innings as Pedro, but Pedro had an ERA+ of 154. They put CC in with an ERA+ of 116 so maybe that's the new standard.

He had more than three great seasons. Some of the seasons you probably didn't count among your three were seasons in which he played great, but his team let him down and lowered his win totals significantly. He was Top Ten in Cy Young voting six times.

This might be the weakest ballot in quite a while.

You can make the case for Andruw Jones based on his defense, and Beltran based on his 70.0 career WAR and all-around excellence, but that's about it.

He had 3 full seasons of an ERA+ over 125. He had another at 158 but it was only 84 innings, then 3 in the 120s. Mussina for example had 11 years of 125+. Johan who for whatever reason isn't giving any consideration had 9. I have no idea what the standard is for the mlb hof anymore and I don't think they do either.

Andruw and Torii are the only ones who's plaques I would want to see in Cooperstown.

Manny and Arod are the only 2 guys who should be elected, but if Beltran and Utley make it in, well, there are many worse players already in

Manny, A-Rod, Torii Hunter and Andruw Jones are the only 4 that stand out to me.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the holdover candidates because there will be up to 50 MLB.com writers and editors eligible to vote for the first time this year.

Is mlb the only one that's purely determined by writers?
