Yes, I enjoy breaking, sorting, and flipping a nice set. With top stars and decent autos, the Dune release seems worth it in the long run.

Update: I just ordered another case. Analyzed my budget and figured I'd pass on Star Trek in Feb since we are selling our house and will be busy. So, let's see what's in this case.
I would love to open some, but for what I am after I just feel like it makes no sense. Good luck with your case. If you hit something I am looking for and don't want to keep it for yourself I would certainly try to work something out.

I was able to get a Chani Spice Gold today for $70.00 buy it now. Might be able to get one cheaper eventually, but compared to a $150.00 price tag I will take it.

Got my case and I expected to lose money but now I'm not so sure. Only 2 boxes of the 12 were plain duds. Just opened it and scanned the big hits so no details on everything else. I did also get 3 Medallions /199, /10, (common characters) and a base of Duke Leto Atreides.

Singles on BIN/BO are still moving either alright or good in some cases...auctions seem to be mostly cheap. I suspect people are having to sit on most BIN's, which I know people don't like to do. Rip, sell and on to the next thing seems to be the trend(for the last few years or so, haha).
The wax keeps coming down and I keep buying it with the intention of opening it eventually. It just feels so cheap that I can't not buy it. I picked up 2 more hobby cases this morning, so now I have 5 hobby cases here staring at me. Also have 5 blaster cases. So far, I've opened 2 blaster cases with the kids. Will get to the rest of this eventually.

Man, they printed way too much of this for what the market could support, and at a bad time in the calendar. So many dealers are in a cash crunch right now that they are selling their Dune off at huge losses just to free up money for all the other products that are coming out. Although I don't expect this to be as popular of a franchise, this feels like when Artbox Harry Potter boxes were getting dumped at $50/box 15 years ago. Thankfully, I got tired of opening HP after a while and stored some of those boxes. I'll definitely keep at least a case of this sealed long term. All live autos and a strong auto checklist of stars.

Looking for Andre Dawson Serial numbered cards that are his jersey number - either #8 or #10. So looking for cards like 8/8 or 08/99 or 10/250.

LOL, makes we want another case but I'll control myself, for now. As much as they may have made a ton, it is nice and not easy to make base and base parallel sets.
It is interesting that I haven't seen many of the top names like Zendaya and Chalamet in the many numbered parallels. I'm not generally a conspiracy theorist but, like Topps sports products, you have to wonder where they are.
Hmmm,
Vinny

there's been plenty of Chani and Paul numbered cards on ebay etc over the past couple of weeks, including some bangers.

The dn. The only place anyone spending at least $1500 a year on sealed wax should be buying product. Even if I didn't buy or sell anything it would be worth the $19 a month just as a research tool. There are actually sales as low as $45 a box.

I assume dn is some sort of discord server. I other wise see nothing on the internet about $50 boxes. It is interesting how many cases are being dumped auction style on eBay. People are really dumping the product.

He's talking about Dealer Net.. you have to pay like a $19 monthly subscription fee.

It used to be great before the boom, but I haven't used it for years

Loved the bookes, liked and movies.

Not going to be ripping at thus point - been thinking off adding one or two nice cards from this set to the PC.

Tough call, as the two main actors didn't sign. Princess Irulan will be more important if they make a third film, but she doesn't feel like a correct pick either, nor does Lady Jessica as Paul starts to outgrow her influence.

That leaves a low #d Chalamet card as the main candidate, but with the prices those cards go for, it would almost make more sense to roll the dice on ripping wax.

What a pickle!!

I love the movies and the books as well...I think the franchise has legs to go down as something like modern day Star Wars, just with not as big of an audience. I think that boils down to there are just way to many choices and people have the attention spans of gnats

With that said, my personal choices are definitely Paul and Chani. Jessica WILL be in the 3rd movie, but in a very small role, as she's not even in the corresponding book. I'd like to add a nice auto of her and perhaps a nice Duncan auto. Irulan isn't a bad choice either, as her role should be bigger in the 3rd movie, which by the way:

They already finished filming the 3rd movie and it's due out 12/18/2026

So...here's to hoping for a great 3rd film!

Again, personally, I like this quite a bit better than any of the last 6, maybe 7 Star Wars movies. The only one I'd say I borderline liked as much was Rogue One. If the trilogy finishes strong, I don't see any reason specific Chrome cards don't see a major gain. Your choices are either this or the very overpriced(IMO) release day set.

I passed on cases and picked up a Walken auto for the collection. Only one I want since the big 2 aren’t included. Also as a sidenote I’m happy to see flippers lose their money on this product.

It’s going to be a fascinating economics situation.
I think the amount of people reallly wanting this (like us in here) is really low.

So as all of these cases come to auction they should continue dropping (and don’t think there are major dealers really protecting the floor price like in some other releases)

Not sure if you've seem my post history.. I have pretty much moved off of ripping wax since 2019 - the prices are just insane. I'm a single guy in his 40s and can afford to rip still, but I refuse to on principal.

I've been on the fence - really wanting to rip some Dune as the price has gone down - but avoiding buying boxes off of eBay for fear people start ripping a case, hit a big auto in a box, and list the rest of the boxes for auction.

I did find a good Black Friday Deal on another site that's not to be named so I will be ripping a few boxes of Jay & Silent Bob Reboot and Clerks III (love Kevin Smith) and think I'll just try to pick up a nice Dune single for the PC.

With the box prices coming down, hopefully more singles will be listed and I won't have to compete with you fine folks here for the singles on eBay!

Now that I'm 70 I've changed my ways and enjoy sorting cards from breaks. For years I would tell iFish to keep the base in his non-sport breaks. Now it's kind of a relaxing process if it's a decent set.
The Dune chrome cards are much nicer than the paper non-sports sets I've passed on. Also, you only get, maybe, 1 90 card set in a case. Yes they are overproduced in the long run but sets of Dune do okay on ebay. It took me close to 3 cases to make 1 silver rainbow set.
Best to All,
Vinny

Yeah i hear you. I think it’s a good strategy. But If there are $cheap Black Friday boxes I think you should buy a few from the big guys. Almost no chance they’ve been gone through for the autos and it’s rare to still have ripping fun this cheap anymore

I don’t break nearly as much wax as you do, but in my experience first box is always fun as you are seeing everything for the first time (even base and common inserts) but to me that grows old quickly and I end up treating additional box breaks as chores. In all honesty, I’m not sure how some of these mega breakers do it. It’s a pretty tedious experience if you do too much of it.

Hah, one thing the big breakers have going for them is they RIFLE through those packs.

I see other people do openings where they slow-roll every card - taking extra time to go find spacers to cover the next hit - not the big breakers.

Time is money - they're not hiding @#$!

Flawless cases ripped, cards sleeved and toploaded, and onto the next break in under two minutes. Boom.

Black Friday $800 a 12 box hobby case, bought another.
We shall see,
