So, COMC tweeted this. No more details (is it combined buy/sell? What was start date of this promotion? Do eBay sales count?) and haven’t bothered to blog about it.

I doubt it would be combined buy/sell.

Regarding eBay sales this week… When I look at my personal stats for this weeks promo on the COMC site it appears they exclude eBay sales from that total.

You get at least one black friday Promo Mail and a bunch of pop-ups from COMC every day, but the one actually good benefit is only announced on twitter?

I think I’ve bought everything cool from my main searches and I doubt anything reloads over the holiday weekend. Got some cool stuff though so I am happy.

I'm a buyer, not a seller or flipper. COMC is great, I can find most of what I'm looking for and discover cards I might have missed. Only thing that bugs me is the shipping delays, and would be nice to have the ability to trade cards.

I've enjoyed digging through comc on Black Friday week for the past 7 or 8 years. I've made my bones mining mid-1990's baseball, picking up lots of shiny stuff for the PC (Griffey, Gwynn, Jeter, Ripken etc). I'm not a big seller or flipper by any means... really just a collector at heart. But boy, we're getting to slim, slim pickings now! Each year it's like 4x the work for 1/4 the result.

I pivoted this year to work on my vintage non-sport collection, and I did some decent work there. I focus on the most famous of Presidents, inventors, writers, musicians and some Americana etc.

I was able to snag a few odds and ends so far that fit my PC. I do all Yankees Topps flagship SP and SSP image variations and found one I'd been looking for forever at a good price. Also snagged a Yogi Berra Diamond Icons relic /5 from a few years ago that was just too amazing to pass up at a decent price. (Loves me some Yogi!!!)

But overall the lack of free shipping and rebate promotions have capped my desire to dig endlessly.

Just as an fyi, I did qualify for the historical pricing promo. It's amazingly helpful. So easy to see the true deals -- although I see why they guard it. Basically 95% of the cards I'm looking at are way overpriced and would set historical records if bought! It's made it clear to me just how overpriced comc truly is. You have to dig, dig, dig -- even with huge discounts -- to find a few value buys.

I did manage to knock out some cool stuff from my WL yesterday.

And this one popped up last night when I was watching football. I have quite a few of the mascot fabric cards in this set but this is my first 1/2…

I too find the market data tool very convenient and useful. All that data at the click of a button. eBay has its product research tool which also gives comps but that search is clunky and you have to weed out stuff trying to make sure you’re actually comparing to the same card. With COMC’s tool, it’s exactly the card without question and immediate info.

My only problem is….if this goes away at the end of the year, then who really cares. Not really worth it to me to just have it for a month.

Also…I’m seeing multiple instances of cards with sale date listed as 12/29/25….not sure whats going on there.

I don’t have any items showing sale date of 12/29/25. That is odd. Are they remote items?

Check for example the 2024 Marvel Masterpieces ‘92 Sleepwalker Red precious metal gems (search including sold out, to find it).

Not sure…no inclination it’s a remote listing, and don’t remember seeing remote listings on 92MM platinum

So annoying. Giving “entries” out if you spend or sell so much. They botched this Black Friday. I have barely bought anything during this promo because I have no reason to and they have annoyed me. COMC just can’t get out of their own way sometimes.

So, when did COMC start offering ebay shipping at 2.99?

That's a pretty big deal

Only for low valued raw cards, I believe. It's been happening for months on their live stream. Graded/oversized are still $5.99 each to ship (+$1 each additional card in a livestream the same day inside US).

Still much cheaper to buy on their site and ship together even if you're going to expediate shipping.

Odd note on that shipping- I was bidding on a comc auction where the shipping was $2.99, and it went pretty high, hammered at like $380. But the shipping was still listed at $2.99, with no other options, which doesn’t seem right, and I posted above in thread about that. Well I paid for it (shipping being $2.99), then they sent it as normal and I now have the card. Reflecting on that more, it did go through authenticity guarantee…I wonder if maybe COMC has an arrangement with eBay authenticity and can ship a bunch of cards at once to them in bulk, which could also explain why that shipping remained so cheap.

Clearly the initial promotions were not yielding the results they wanted, but that should have been the expected and obvious outcome. There's basically zero incentive for buyers this year, unless you're one of the highest rollers.
It's almost like COMC figured that the sellers would take the initiative and pump up discounts to fuel the promotions, but if I've learned anything from every promotion on COMC it's that sellers will look to get as close to their price on a card regardless (including pumping up prices to give a big discount back down to their desired price). Nobody is giving away their inventory.
It's probably just as telling that COMC isn't doing any shipment promotion, as that's likely a sign that they recognize they can't handle the influx in shipments at this time of year... and that they're willing to see how many buyers will ship without any shipping promotion. I try and maximize every opportunity to save on the margins at COMC, so even though I have a few cards that have been sitting for nearly six months, I may hold on to my purchases until a shipping promotion drops - who knows, that may happen after the holidays when things typically slow down and COMC has greater capacity to fulfill those shipments.

Agree. There’s no doubt they avoided shipping promotions because they can’t handle it. I’d do the same if I were them. You can’t crush the grapes of your shipping team to the point of oblivion, and they were clearly doing that each year. The key is to still make a huge shipping push without the usual influx… to actually alleviate shipping backlogs. But I doubt they’ll do that. Most companies are too short sighted and just want to save the short term buck.

It does stink there’s no incentive to buy this year. They’re going to do a fraction of the business they did even last year I’m guessing.

Anyone here ever wait more than the 4 business days to receive the cash-out? First time using my bank instead of PayPal and I’m at day 6 already.
Just wanted to ask before I start the good old support odyssey^^

Ah, bummer. It'd def help with COMC's ebay sales if it was across the board.

For all the legitimate criticism about sellers on COMC who have sky-high prices, it’s clear from a few of those on the list that the strategy can work!
