Voter fatigue (I would actually call it narrative fatigue) is real but it rears its head under Bird/Jordan/LeBron scenarios. It is absolutely not going to happen to Shai. Not sure how that's even plausible given he's won... ahhh... 1 MVP?

There is an example of voter fatigue in your list, though. And it was Jokic losing out to Embiid. The media was in overdrive that year making it a race issue.

Yes that year probably presents the best case for voter fatigue. Happens so rarely though. I don’t remember the race dynamic. I remember it being that Embiid had finished runner up for a few years to Jokic/Giannis and he was ‘close enough long enough’ to deserve one. Kind of like a career achievement award. I think Jokic should have won it that year.

Steph looks like he's trying to play through something serious. Not good for GS.

Hate seeing Steph go down, but the Warriors aren't doing anything this year with or without him anyway.

True. But considering how many years he may have left, it's always better when you have Steph to watch on an evening slate.

Definitely. Really hope it's not serious, but I agree with you. He looked like he knows it's not good.

Unfortunately for them Podz is trash as a pg and Spencer is way too small to maintain spot fill starter minutes. Fortunately for them Kuminga's due back soon. But yeah, they're a play-in team this year at best.

Very interesting discussion with Stan Van Gundy on Zach Lowe's podcast regarding the increase in fouls and free throws that we've seen this year. I thought this really stood out during the OKC/Minnesota game a couple days ago.

The currency of the NBA now and even when you listen to the coaches is possessions, getting more shots than the other team. That has become much more of a big deal than efficiency with with coaches. It's getting more shots. Talking to Kenny Atkinson the other night before the Cleveland game, they've changed the way they teach defense. They used to put a premium on not fouling because the free throws are the most efficient shot in the league. And so hands back, don't be reaching. No, now they say go after the ball. That ball comes into the gap, they're reaching up, they're reaching down. He talked about looking at NFL cornerbacks in how they try to strip the ball from people after the catch.

And what does that mean? They're fouling more, sending people to the line, but that's obviously not threes in most cases, you know, and they're creating enough turnovers to offset it. I think Oklahoma City might have given up the most free throw attempts in the league last year, um, if not very, very close. but they also forced the most turnovers. So, the currency of the league and just the overall analytical approach is leading to some different things.

So I think the league is changing and I think that's exciting and I think coaches are and organizations are looking at okay, how do we get an edge? It was funny listening to Kenny the other night. Because Kenny's been one of those guys who's always trying to be ahead of the game and you could he was disappointed in himself. You could tell that Oklahoma City got the jump on everybody about creating turnovers and not worrying about fouls being the way to go.

To be fair to us, we clocked this amongst ourselves on this forum in the playoffs last year into this season.

I haven’t watched much Mavs over the last few years because I don’t like Luka’s heliocentric style, but watching them now….and they’re terrible. They don’t run anything. It’s just whoever gets the rebound and brings the ball over mid-court drives and shoots. Is Kidd an awful coach or is this the remnants of a Luka system with no Luka?

Spurs beat Nuggets 139-136 without Wemby.

Stat sheet shows that Nuggets had higher FG%, higher 3P% but lost the game because of turnovers and #@#@#@#@ poor defense.

Without Wemby or Castle and a limited Harper. They’ve been winning on the road lately and that’s been impressive. Showing growth and its good to see. Best of all, they hit their FTs.

Clips ran off the floor by Edey & the chipmunks.

When will they finally blow it up. Strip Club Patron's been their sole shining spot this year.

Didn’t enjoy watching Harden’s Rockets either. 37.7 usage is too high. Prefer to watch teams that move the ball like last year’s Pacers or prime Warriors. People have different preferences though and that’s fine.

Not a fan of the way he launches himself into defenders to draw fouls. It's what makes SGA and Jimmy Butler so frustrating to watch as well.

I have no idea why they don't just run that offense entirely through Flagg at this point. Even in year one he's clearly better than almost anyone on the team with the exception of AD (when he actually plays). Like is there any scenario in which we want PJ Washington to have eight more shot attempts than Cooper Flagg? I don't think so. Not to mention Klay and AD only had eight and ten attempts, respectively. They need to get a coach who actually has a vision for that team because it seems like Kidd is totally lost.

Felt this way watching the game as well. I actually think it can be helpful for young players to grow within a system and learn early what constitutes a ‘good shot’ rather than being given the green light. Think this was helpful for Tatum and JB with Hayward/Kyrie/Horford around. Helpful for Shai with CP3 around. But if there is no system, then Flagg isn’t really learning that way anyway, so just give him the ball.

"Giannis challenges slumping Bucks to fix mindset and return to winning ways."
Next up on the schedule, the 3-15 Nets then the 2-16 Wizards, that certainly helps....

What if they’re also fixing their own respective mindsets though?

Big shot from Kon there.

I love watching Luka and Joker play. The positioning, spacing, knowledge of what is going on around them is brilliant.

Shai is up there, too.

I could do without the constant complaining. But that’s everyone.

OKC gets their pick this year with no protections so for the sake of the league the Clips need to keep trying to turn things around.
