If I had to pick one I would probably go with the Bowman Chrome because it really seems to be "the" Rookie Card many want as far as a base entry. I think the gap will close on those two over time though, I thankfully have both and not parting with either one.

The Star 101 doesn't count in your argument. 2 different leagues man! One a junior varsity league the other major league! Guys quit trying to shove his pre-mlb cards down our throat there 2 different levels of cards. What he did in Japan has no bearing on what he's doing in the majors just stop! Ask yourself if he did all he has done in the Japanese league would anyone even care?! The answer is no! That's all you need to know! He had to prove himself against the world's best and he has but only in the majors!

So, he's claiming that Babe Ruth is objectively better than Shohei Ohtani because the gap between Ruth and even the second-best player in the league at the time was so exponentially vast? That's a stupid argument, and I don't even think it holds up. Not only is the game being played now completely different from the game played in the early 1900s, but no one in the league now can do what Shohei is doing.

Simmons mentions Judge being as good of a hitter as Ohtani, but they're totally ignoring the fact that Sho is also a great pitcher. Just two guys talking about baseball who know nothing about it. Simmons should stick to basketball, and Kellerman can stick to boxing or whatever he's best known for.

What's everyone's opinions on 2018 Transcendent Japan edition? Obviously a very niche product as it featured only 2 players, Ohtani and Ichiro. Tons of 1/1's and I believe most autos in the set were #'d /5, /3, or 1/1. I'm wondering if this set is one that is actually semi-undervalued currently.

Just agreed to a deal for this card (not the same serial # but same card otherwise). I know some people hold their nose up at Topps Now cards, but this one f**ks in my opinion...I love the image. Didn't even know it existed till today. I believe this is one of the first cards of Shohei of his Dodgers debut?

For those of you who have collected Ohtani since the beginning (2017/2018) or at least since 2021 how has your Ohtani collecting changed (or not changed)? Are you still buying at today's current prices (especially 2018 RC cards)?

Seem like a lot of people sell multiple Ohtani cards to purchase bigger and better Ohtani cards as their main strategy, but at some point do you run out of cards to consolidate higher and higher?

I started collecting Ohtani during his 2021 MVP season. Current prices have sky rocketed lately. Hindsight being 20/20 I wish I had bought high end back in 2021 like Trueblue told everyone to do. But it appears no matter what kind of collector you are (low, medium, high) your Ohtani RC cards have greatly appreciated.

My goal is to find under valued/under appreciated 2018 medium end RC (thats the lane I try to stay in), but for the first time I am having trouble this off season.

Anyone just holding their Ohtani collection to enjoy and not planning on buying any more (or selling)?
