No matter the starting price, group breakers will need to buy up boxes at higher prices to ensure their businesses don't get undercut -- Topps know this.

Topps and Fanatics better learn from the sneaker world how quickly things can change.

Fanatics has got breakers and dealers by the balls. What are they going to do -- hurt their businesses by refusing to play Fanatics' games? I don't think so.

It's what happens when there is a monopoly and only one supplier.

You could probably at least double your profits ($2,000/box) if you went with the Dutch style, so of course you would want to maximize your profits. Why would Topps stick with the EQL if Panini has successfully utilized the Dutch style for years?
Obviously, the answer would be to publicly sell via Dutch auction with a floor price of $1,000.00 -- why not give the general public a chance to buy at a higher price? It's not just about Topps being greedy -- it's about letting the market decide what a product should sell for and not just selling directly to pre-approved dealers at preset prices.

The EQL sales were very limited drops. They were a way to create FOMO. You weren't supposed to actually get product -- only give the appearance of a fair process and to set initial pricing.

With Dutch auction, Topps is committed to actually providing a large supply of product and letting anyone buy it. The objective is to sell for higher prices to anyone who is willing to pay.

Default Hanger Box or Mega Box???

I have about $200 of store credit from the recent eTopps program closure, and I’m debating whether to use it on hanger boxes or mega boxes. I understand that the hanger box offers better value in terms of cost per card, but I’m concerned that it may mostly contain base cards. The mega box, on the other hand, may gives me at least a chance at better inserts and parallels, even though the odds are slim.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Legacy value in shoes is very compressed. Nike retros practically everything and the shoes all degrade over time. It is not a market for anything but short term speculation. Cards are very different. And the gambling aspect alone will allow wax to continue to thrive.

Would sneaker blind boxes be a successful business venture?

It might be time to invest in card supply companies. The amount of incoming speckle dot wave refractor TC Bol Bols, Jabari Smiths and Oso Ighodaros being sleeved is gonna be wicked!

Megas, blasters, and hangers are "sold out" according to Topps' website. Guessing they just artificially marked them as sold out for the time being?

Yeah they pulled them. Can't have them sitting like that.

It's just ending the presale until the release date, at which point they'll be available again.

When is the release date? And will China get the product early?

It's weird that the FDI "auction" is sort of buried on the website. You'd think they'd be advertising it on the front page. I had to go looking for it. Very odd

Edit: Not that it matters as I'm not touching this at those prices. I was just curious

A Topps CSR reached out to me to confirm I wanted to cancel one of my megabox orders, which I did. So only 10 megas instead of 20 for me to be disappointed about soon. Lol

Yes that is odd especially since it starts in less than 2 hours. I found it as well after digging. Just like you, just more curious than anything to see how much people overpay.

Predictions for the price it sells out at?

I'll say $1750.
