Maybe Notre Dame isn’t as popular as they think they are.
The Aggy game was the first time I have put my TV on NBC for college football since the last time Texas would have been on there.

It's been a hell of a coaching carousel.

Getting more crazy. Moore put into protective custody after getting into altercation with his wife and saying he would kill himself.

Well let’s all hope it doesn’t go that far. He’s going to lose his job, family and money but needs to take responsibility, apologize and move on with his life the best he can. That’s a lot to handle but hope he doesn’t do anything like that

Ah yes, that one year that Arkansas went 9-4.

Anyone using Navy as a good win, no matter what they are "ranked" is not smart.

I am just speaking facts. Unfortunately, facts trigger an awful lot of people these days.

For example, it is a fact that anyone who doesn’t consider beating the #22 team in the nation a good win is not smart.

Beating Navy is not a quality win for Notre Dame. The all time record is 82-13-1 for Notre Dame. They won 13 of the last 14. Navy has won 4 times since 1967. This game is a formality for Notre Dame. Neither is Arkansas or Purdue. They both have been perennial doormats for a long time. With the agreement in place, I can see Notre Dame scheduling 2 or 3 "good" teams. I define that as one in which they actually go in with a reasonable chance to lose. In other words, Notre Dame will make the road to 10 wins as open as possible.

Respectfully, do you know how silly that reasoning is? According to your logic, if Ohio State beat Indiana, it wouldn’t have been a quality win. After all, Ohio State was 80-12-5 against Indiana. They were 60-2-2 since 1952. The game is a formality for Ohio State, right? Indiana is not a quality opponent for Ohio State!!

Also someone should inform the playoff committee that Vanderbilt this year was not a quality win for Alabama.

That is some serious apples and oranges. Indiana was a bad win up until these past two years. You let me know when Navy is beating multiple Big Ten and SEC teams in a year. Indiana is a very unique case you know that.

No it really isn’t apples and oranges. You’re literally taking things that happened in the 60’s and 70’s as a reason for why a game played in 2025 isn’t a quality win, which is intellectually bankrupt.

Navy may have sucked for the past 80 years but here and now in 2025, they are a very good team. The AP has them ranked. The coaches have them ranked. Colley has them ranked. Billingsley has them ranked. Anderson/Hester has them ranked. (In the interest of fairness, Sagarin and the PC do not have them ranked.)

Whether or not Notre Dame whupped Navy during the Nixon administration is 100% irrelevant to the quality of opponent they are in 2025.

People keep bringing it up….

I reserve the right to change my mind as the season continues to play out. They still have a meaningful game left. Their ranking may go up, their ranking may go down. But here and now, they are a ranked team and it takes a special kind of hater to say a victory over a ranked team is meaningless because of things that happened 50 years ago.

Go ahead and pencil ND into the 2026 playoff, unless catastrophe. Their schedule is trash if Miami and USC end up being mid or worse. There is not another team on that schedule that is perennially good. Hell, most of those teams are lucky to catch lightning once or twice a decade. 2027 is even worse for perennially good teams but maybe Auburn and VT can get it together by then.

If you are in a power conference you are almost assured to cross paths with a title contender or two. Especially as long as conference championship games continue to be played. Even if perceived strengths on your schedule stumble.
