That's good news; at least it's being fixed going forward.

The new version will include a "Save for Later" section, allowing buyers to move items there manually — and importantly, when a seller goes on vacation, any affected items will automatically shift to this area. Once the seller returns, those items will be restored to your active cart.

This doesn't solve the issue today, but the upcoming update will address it. We're aiming to roll out the new shopping cart in December or January.
Sounds great - thank you!

Is there no way to search a seller's inventory now?

edit - disregard. Figured it out.

second edit - why does the back button not take you to the actual previous page? Frustrating

I have been adding cards to Sportlots over the past couple of days. So far, nearly all cards have been Topps Baseball and I am just over 13k listed.

I have a couple of questions for the experienced sellers on here.

1. Do football, basketball and hockey cards sell well on sportlots? I have a number of common cards from the early to mid 90s. Is it worth my time to load them?

2. Do brands other than Topps sell well? I have a lot of Fleer Ultra, Pinnacle, Leaf, Score, etc. and I just want to know if it is worth the time to list them. These are also common cards from the early to mid 90s.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ledge,

I've loved selling on SL over the last 9 years.

In my experience, baseball has been the best seller for me, but I've still done well with all the other sports and non-sports.

For me, the biggest factors for generating sales are:

1) having inventory of sets that aren't already flooded.
2) being the cheapest or close to cheapest for most of your cards
3) having competitive shipping cost
4) having a wide variety of inventory
5) building repeat customers due to timely shipping

Common junk wax era cards will sell, but probably not quickly.

Is this update going to affect anything we already have in carts?

All existing items in your shopping cart will be automatically converted into the new format on the 18th.

What warnings does a buyer get when they open a "Item not as described" issue? I never hear from buyers before they post an issue and 90% of the time the suggested resolution is the wrong resolution. In 90% of cases the issue is that I pulled the wrong card - I'm retired and my eyesight is not perfect - in addition there are times I pull a 100-200 cards and just am not perfect.

My preferred resolution is to send the correct card at my expense - I want the order to be correct. But I'm given the option to refund the card or ask for the order to be returned. Neither meets my needs. I don't want the buyer to go elsewhere and pay postage again to get the card they want and I don't want to pay their postage either to return the card.

In the 10% of cases that I hear about this before the "Item not as Described" is opened I do this. But when I don't know I generally refund it anyway and send the card.

Buyers - let the seller know when something is not right before using the autmated process.

Not sure why you would want to do this, it just adds more credit card or PayPal transaction fees for the sellers. But if you must do this, in the shopping cart, use the "Group By", select sellers as the option. Then click the "Save For Later" link for each of the sellers you want to move all of their items over except for the seller you want to pay. Then Check out.

Hope this helps. If you can explain why you want to check out one seller at a time, let me know the reason. Maybe we can make some change so this isn't necessary. One of the largest issues is all of the credit card and PayPal transaction fees our sellers need to pay.

Thanks

My cart constantly has 50-100 items in it from many different sellers. I use it to earmark cards to purchase later - exactly what the "save for later" feature seems to further facilitate. I don't want to buy my entire cart and hit 10 sellers each with one .50 card I want with the aforementioned fees. I try to save until I have at least 2-3 cards with a seller or perhaps can see that they've inflated their shipping rate to cover fees.

Sounds good. Just be aware from a sellers perspective, they would prefer that you combine sellers in one order. It cuts way down on PayPal transaction fees. PayPal charges 3.49% + 49 cent flat fee per payment. If you place a single order with many sellers, they each split that 49 cent transaction fee, but if you place say 5 different orders from 5 individual sellers, each seller ends up paying the full 49 cent flat fee on their own. This is really a killer if you buy one or two 20 cents cards and all of it gets eaten up by a 49 cent flat transaction fee.

Right - I seldom place an order with a single seller. If I do, it's at least several bucks. I put several sellers in the cart together but still try to avoid the 1-2 cheap card orders unless I can tell they'll be able to absorb the fee.

Why take away the option to just buy from one seller? That seems so much easier then having to move items back and forth between save for later. We seem to keep making things harder instead of easier on Sportlots.

If you need an example why, I currently have over 1600 cards in my cart across four sellers. They other day I needed to buy a handful of cards from a different seller. So added them, filtered by that seller, and paid. Pretty easy. Is it tough to move the four sellers to save for later - of course not. But again why make it more key strokes then less. Not super efficient.

Nothing is being taken away. You can still buy from one seller if you want. Yes, it's is a little more work, but the save for later has other uses, now you don't have to just filter by seller, you can move some items from a seller and still keep others for that same seller in your shopping cart. You can also filter by set if you are just interested in buyer cards from certain sets and leave other sets in your Save For Later. This was a big request to have that functionality.

The Save For Later also now is a place to hold inventory from sellers who go on vacation so we no longer have to delete all of those items from your shopping cart.

Great! You wouldn't believe how many people don't realize that PayPal has these transaction fees or just not give it any thought. Was just an opportunity for me to bring attention to that.

Thanks!

I actually read the terms and conditions. There is reference to "Min Value Fee"
in there. Is this is future enhancement? Any details.

Did seller PayPal fees go up? I just got a $1.27 fee on a $3.31 order.

Edit: This really doesnt add up, the total order including shipping was $5.42. How is a $1.27 paypal fee applied here?

This is in place now. I am still working on a more detailed User's Guide with all of the updates in place. Should be on the site in a few days. Here is more info on the Minimum Value Fee:

------------------------------------------------------------------

Sportlots allows customers to purchase cards for as low as 20 cents each, making it easy to fill want lists at very competitive prices. However, small orders can lead to high transaction fees, especially when using PayPal or credit cards, which can significantly reduce seller profits.

To address this, Sportlots has implemented a Minimum Value Fee. Orders under $5.00 will incur a $1.50 fee. The $5.00 minimum is calculated by adding the card values, shipping, sales tax (if applicable), and subtracting any applied loot.

Avoiding the Minimum Value Fee

Option 1) Create Fewer, Higher-Value Orders: Instead of placing multiple small orders, accumulate items in your cart and make one larger purchase.

Option 2) Add Credit to Your Sportlots Account: By adding credit and using it for purchases, Sportlots pays a one-time PayPal fee, reducing transaction fees for sellers. You can add credit via PayPal, credit card, or by sending a check/money order. The minimum credit amount is $25.00. To add a credit to your account, go to: "My Account/Add Credit"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Something like this will be in the User's Guide when it becomes available.

Just sent you a private message so I can get your Sportlots Order ID. Will review and if there is an error, will refund and get this corrected for any future orders.

Thanks

How will this work for sellers - if collected does go to sellers? I've always wanted something like this.

Are you going to add a link under "Search Inventory" / "Selling History" for "Non-Sports"?
