Agreed on both counts.

Regarding the Ott, the nameplate should be black for the NL. I initially though Topps went with a red nameplate because they used black for the logo background, but they used a black nameplate and white background/black outline for the logo on the Mathewson card, and that utilize the same logo/color as the Ott card.

It got by me. I am always so focused on making sure each print I number doesn't have scratches or dinged corners that I forget to check the spelling of the player's name. If I had caught it, I would have reached out to Topps before signing any.

Based on the current release schedule, we’ll end 2025 with #897, and 2026 with #1001.

I’d really like Topps to rectify the single card release week for Gabe’s debut by giving you two cards for the week of December 31. Not having an even release count is nagging at my collector brain. I also dislike each week since the Kendall delay ending with an odd card number.

As for another Segura card, you bite your tongue, sir!

Thankfully, he hasn’t played a Major League game since July 2023, so we should be safe. The fact we got a Segura/Marlins card for a season he played 85 games, was traded at the deadline, put up -2.1 bWAR, and hasn’t seen an ML diamond since, says a lot about that selection.

John Segura the GOAT of the the Living Set !! Also, I note that Canada Day falls on Bobby Bonilla Day which just so happens to be a Wednesday. If this were to happen with a Canada Day Easter egg that would be epic.

Both of those players are long overdue for the set. However, I’m still beating the drum for Walter Johnson at #900. I want to see the inaugural Hall of Fame class in the set before we hit card #1000.

I'm still in for another Negro Leagues legend. Satchel in a Monarchs uniform, Bullet Rogan, Oscar Charleston, Buck O'Neil, Martin Dihigo, Willard Brown, Hilton Smith ... any of them will do.

I certainly want to see more Negro League players included, but I hope Topps doesn't rely on the century marks to do so. Since all records have been merged, and the Negro Leagues are now considered Major League Baseball, just start including them like you would any other retired player.

Walter Johnson is definitely deserving of a century mark. He would be great for #1000 though. I feel like that should be a really big one and who better than an inaugural HOF member.
