He likely didn’t like the numbers presented to him for a longer deal. Going to the Sox lets him adjust to the league almost in obscurity. If he blows up, Sox can move him for a profit, or he can help them get better. I remember shingo time and the gooch.

And it’s always nice to see a Japanese player not sign with the cubs or a west coast club.

Rookie cup is out...they are not offering free shipping on this. $10 to ship 13 cards...on top of $65 for the set. Also, just noticed they are trying to charge tax on the shipping too!

$85 for 1 set...ugh!

Guess I won't be getting this either, unless they fix this.

NOTE: the old trick of adding something that has free shipping works...

Sorta like the final nail in the coffin. As a former Platinum Member I feel Fanatics has ruined Topps Now in more ways than one!

I think converting rewards points to fancash is the real final nail in the coffin

Yeah. The points didn't really make sense from the start. Those points could only be used for Now items, even though you earned those points via any product sold on Topps.com

Worked for some, didn't for others. I get it, it *was* odd in the sense you mentioned but Fancash deal is a step down due to less in return.

And you don’t earn fancash on preorders or new release hobby. I spent $450 on sapphire update and did not get 1800 points or fancash.

I was told by 2 different Topps/Fanatics employees codes would still work after as long as you redeem before. Everyone assumes they won’t work after as evidenced with no one buying the codes now.

What really sucks is I would have used everything on the Dodgers World Series sets if they would have announced this crap in October. I’m going to end up redeeming the codes and if they don’t work I’ll just get the amount refunded as credit which I’ll then be forced to start gambling again.

But I'd venture to say a majority of people who earned Topps Rewards points usually don't buy TN products. And definitely wouldn't buy them without the discounts.

At least you can use the coupons so the Rookie Cup set goes from $80 DLVD to around $38.

Considering that on demand product was a major part of this site,’it makes sense the rewards redemptions push those products.

I think a majority of ppl earned rewards pts from buying something other than on-demand products.

I'm just saying, Topps should have just let ppl use rewards pts on anything. Doesn't really cost them that much but it makes the base happier.

Got my one Dodgers WS set today, black package is shrink wrapped and set inside is in a silver foil package. Got a Yamamoto SP(YAY) with corner folded out of the package. (BOO)

I couldn’t even remember what I was supposed to be looking for in the Dodgers set. I thought it was an auto and decided the pack was a dud. Flipped it over to check the back and noticed the back of the Ohtani was numbered SSP. That was certainly a pleasant surprise.
