It looks like you’re collecting the complete 54 topps set? Is that right? I started collecting the 54 set in the last year or two.

Hard to keep it to 5! You know it is a good year when a 1966 Topps Venezuelan Roberto Clemente doesn't make it.

For my top 5, I'm just going with commons turned into rarities with signatures:

The two Joey Belle signed Star minor league issues were the first copies I've seen in my years of looking. For those that don't know, Belle was checked into a rehabilitation program in the summer of 1990 and he officially went by Albert after that.

For Paige, any signed standard-sized card is awesome in my book. It's more common to find signed postcards or index cards from him.

I completed the UD Youthful Tribe card through a Thome signing and rare Belle signing earlier this year. I lucked out with the timing being able to get both done back to back through the mail.

Lastly, I've been on the hunt for a Manny signed '92 Bowman w/a Cleveland-era signature for a long time now. I love the gold ink with one of his later 90's sigs.

Some serious heat in this thread. Here is my top 5. Literally just bought the Griffey today. Should be done buying for the year

Correct. 8+ and high eye appeal. It’s tough. So many of the older slabs are horribly over graded. This will probably take me a decade. I started this year and am at 10%.

Focused on Ohtani last off season and definitely glad I started then. These are my 5 favorite pick ups of this year.

Like others it’s hard to pick 5- I am also picking 5 that have actually been bought and stayed in my PC- have plenty of other cards that went through my hands - but these are still with me and will stay with me!

Top 5 Ohtani Pickups

I was able to knock out some key Ohtani cards I've been wanting for a while

#5 Topps Chrome Update Refractor /250

A solid lowish number refractor that was still semi-reasonably priced

#4 2024 Topps Now Dual Patch/Cleat Ohtani/Judge Orange /5
These two seemed destined to be forever linked to each other and I thought this was a really cool card. I love game used cards and love that the Judge is a game used cleat, adding to the uniqueness of the card

#3 2018 Topps Stadium Club Chrome Gold Minted RC

I've been wanting one of these for a long time, and finally was able to pick one up this year. I think it's a great looking card and has some rarity to it

#2 2018 Topps Now Players Weekend Game Used Jersey /49

Another one that I wanted forever and kick myself for being the underbidder on a patch version a few years ago. I feel like these don't come up for auction much, and although it's a Topps Now card, I think it's a really cool piece of history as it has a swatch of a game used Ohtani rookie year jersey and he actually hit a home run wearing this jersey.

#1 Topps Ohtani 50/50 Game Used Pants /99

The second I heard they were making cards featuring a swatch of game used pants from the 50/50 game I knew one day, I'd have to get one. Now the auto'd version is way out of my price range, but I was able to swing the non auto'd version card and I love it. To have a small piece of history from that historic game is really cool to me. My favorite pickup in all sports

Threads like these are always fun, great pickups top to bottom!

My Ginter autograph collection has exploded the last few years, finally added the Judge rookie/autograph.

1959 is my favorite Topps set of all time, had to grab the batting version:

Just a Jeter autograph that I wanted at release was always hesitant to pull the trigger for some reason...

One of a couple big Ohtani pickups this year:

I took my son to his first Nats game this summer. Wood threw him a ball during warmups so I made sure to snag a fitting card...
