Default Thank you eBay authentication!

Props to eBay authentication.

There was a card listed for auction. Comps ranged from $290-$310. The seller had some history, but not tens of thousands of sales. The pictures were one of the front and one of the back. They weren’t totally junk pictures, but they weren’t extremely great either. I bid on it, and got it for barely over $300. If I’m not mistaken, that qualified it for eBay authentication. They messaged me saying the card *is* authentic, but they caught a discrepancy with the card that was not mentioned in the sellers description. There was a tiny dot of black magic market on a corner, making it an altered card.

I don’t know if the seller knew, but I’m sure glad they caught it. They gave me the option to reject the card and I did. I’ll keep looking for an unaltered card.

Funny I bought a Kon real one gold auto for 245 few months back before he got hot. They authenticated it no problem. I resold for 1k on eBay same exact card didn’t touch it they miraculously found some flaw with the card and gave buyer option to decline.

Card wasn’t perfect, but by no means less than an 8.

Wow didn’t know they authenticated all that ..just figured they made sure it was a real authentic card but not all the extra that could happen to the card ,

Seller could have had a BIN price of $275 and buyer negotiated down to the $245.

I dont know the rules on authentication... I just bought a $130 dollar card and its stuck at authentication now. I also have a similar story to the OP - I bought a silver Alex Sarr prizm ($20) and they sent it to auth. They said there was a scratch and gave me the option to return it.

If there are rules/guidelines on price for authentication, it certainly isnt something that is followed closely.

A seller could have an inexpensive card at auction for $2, but put a BIN of $250 in the listing, and I believe that card will go thru the eBay AG.

Correct, if there's a BIN for $250+ it doesn't matter what the final sales price is, it could be a $1. It will go to auth.
