I love seeing stuff like this, a big hit pulled and kept by the owner for all these years. No doubt could have given in to the market boom and sold it for a huge profit but held on. Diamond hands.

You took very good care of the auto too. I wonder how many of these have been faded with time and poor handling.

The card is awesome but I'm not sure it was a "big hit"? This was that precursor to Exquisite where it was a box of like 4 Jordan cards all high-end.

As I look at this thread again and check ebay, Man I don't think affordability and Michael Jordan Autos should be used in the same sentence. I know that was kind of the point of the post, but dang, there's been a large increase in price just in the past few months.

Dang, those Master Collection autographs are incredible.

I once traded a Jordan Sweet Shot autograph for a Mark Sanchez RPA + cash. I am not a smart man.

I've since replaced it.

There isn't enough supply for the demand.

When you take into consideration all the factors. Virtually no playing day autos. Limited production from the start. Fade due to age and poor care. Sticker autos. Wizards autos. Golf autos...

The available on card/bulls autos that are clean and bright blue are extremely limited. We may (likely) be in a bubble that pulls back some but mid and long term it is like beach front property. Buy when you can find the budget and hang on tightly!

Card is a nice Mint 9, but the auto is beautiful, and looks like a Gem Mint 10 Auto...

I got in at the perfect time with most of my MJ autos.

Best 2 deals were probably 03-04 UD Legends Championship Numbers /90 raw for $1500 which is now a BGS 9.5 and a SP Game Used Significance /100 BGS 9 for $3400 which I broke out and regraded and is now a BGS 9.5.

I haven't bought and new MJs of any type in years though because they are so high.

Before the price raise, I had seen this card sit on eBay at $900 for a long time. Thought that it was too expensive at that time and didn't pull the trigger each time I saw the card....and it is all history now.

I get the limited availability of Jordan Bulls Autos, but holy smokes, go check recent sales of "basic" UNC ones. Many 4-5k+. Ones I picked up within the past couple of years for almost half that. Crazy explosion on his autos.

This is the way to go, especially if you're able to find something signed at during one of his UC Santa Barbara Flight Academy camps. It will still be UD authenticated but recorded separate from the UDA store database.

If you're looking for an MJ item to display, UDA is by far the best choice.

You can get really nice Bulls autos for $7K. Auto is nice and big and bold and usually stands out (silver or gold against a black background or black on a white background).

They might not increase in value like cards, but they just show so well.

Imagine if this was an autographed card in Chronology. I think it would fetch six figures easily.

I bought an Upper Deck Program of Excellence /23 on COMC in 2018 for $514.
At the time it was the most I'd ever spent on a card and I was second guessing my choice since it's a weirdly sized booklet.
Now it's one of my favorite items in my collection and obviously is worth more than $514

Years ago when they were still relatively affordable, I could've bought many of his on card autos outright but I wanted to personally pull one myself; same for Lebron. Wouldn't even matter what card or issue it came out of, I just wanted an exemplar of each.

Spent several tens of thousands on boxes/cases of UD products over the course of 12-13 years and never did. I finally gave up and purchased an on card UD Lebron auto, couldn't even tell without looking at it what card it is. Jordan prices were much more than I cared to spend. I also realized an on card auto would only sit in a storage box with all my other autos and shifted focus toward diversifying the collection with something other than a piece of cardboard which would also display nicely.

Long story behind it, but this is what I ultimately settled on - 5 or so years ago, for much less than any of his on card autos were priced at. Photo of the ball itself not attached since it looks like any other signed basketball. Official NBA game ball (not game used) with UDA authentication for much less than four figures and closer to the retail cost of the ball itself.

My most expensive card, is in this box that I haven't even opened yet (Still factory sealed). There is a Michael Jordan auto card from 2000 Upper Deck NBA Legends Master Collection. There are 4 versions of the Jordan auto, #/50, only 200 copies, along with Autos of Bird, Magic, Russell, and Dr. J.

So, my most expensive card, is one that I've never even laid my own eyes on, and don't even know which of the 4 Jordan versions is in it.

But, here's what it would look like if it was opened (Stock Photo below), plus there's an extra mysery pack that may contain a 2nd Jordan Auto:
