Well I’ve seen it all. Had a kid in 8U tonight field a ground ball, run it from 3rd to 1st, and had it to the first baseman. I asked why and he said he didn’t “feel like throwing anymore in his life”. Same kid during the hitting portion kept chopping like it was an axe. I knew I was in for a treat when before we started the mom asked if he could wear his batting helmet the entire time so he wouldn’t get hurt.

Somebody help me. There is one line in MacArthur Park that has bothered me since the first time I heard it. What the hell does Someone left the cake out in the Rain mean. I know it’s got to be a metaphor for something but what.

But everything in the song is real. There is a MacArthur Park in Los Angeles, near where my girlfriend worked selling life insurance. We’d meet there for lunch, and there would be old men playing checkers by the trees, like in the lyrics.
