Default Konnor Griffin

Following some of the Pirates spring training games & listening to local sports radio and I don't recall ever hearing a minor leaguer get so much hype and praise. Will he pull off making the opening day roster at 19 years old?

From a card-price standpoint, he basically has to become Soto or Witt for his current prices to be justified.

Yeah I couldn't believe how much some of his stuff has been fetching lately. I'm assuming the limited availability with his age has a lot to do with that. Not much out there to choose from as of yet.

Could you imagine Ken Griffey Jr. making his debut in 2026?

Bryce Harper and Stephen Strasburg but with social media the way it is today, I get it. Skenes is the most recent

I can't imagine. Barry Bonds too. They're actually the reason people pay up on son's former MLB players.

I wasn't following as closely during the Harper or Strasburg years, but the Skenes hype was big. This seems to be a magnitude higher than even that (at least in the Pittsburgh sports world). It could also be the amount of media being consumed. 10 years ago I'd watch a game and read an occasional article. Now I'm listening to sports radio & podcasts, following their social media accounts and I'm back in to collecting cards. So maybe I'm just more cognizant of the hype now than I was prior.

It's the Pirates so NO.

They held Skenes back, of course they will hold KG back

Bob Nutting is the worst.

Konnor Griffin is the future and will make the opening day lineup - IMO.

And, I agree with BosoxFan1999 that Bob Nutting is the WORST!

He will be better than both.

Holliday isn't in the same stratosphere.

Griffin will be A-Rod with same power and more speed.
A 1st Bowman Refractor auto PSA 10 just sold for $3.2K. Seems reasonable.

There is a zero percent chance imo he is on the opening day roster.

Bottom Line Bob

I love how no one has had the sack to show a Griffin card they bought. I’m not talking about “I pulled this from a box so I guess I’m a fan now until I sell it when he debuts,” I’m talking about a card purchased at market value.

I bought a 1st Bowman, but only because it was a mislabeled refractor being sold as a base card.

Griffin seems like the real deal but how many times have we seen this?

I mean he is on the pittsburgh pirates. I don't have much invested into him but think that it is a easy move take money off the table here and buy into somebody with a proven track record like juan soto or guerrero jr for a fraction of the price

A lot.

But I’m still 100% sure a lot of people have spent large amounts of money on him already. They just don’t want to publicly admit it yet. If he gets off to a hot start after his debut, get ready for a lot of posts of people showing off their offseason Griffin pickups.

Did you just say that Konnor Griffin is going to be better than Juan Soto and Bobby Witt Jr?? I wish you nothing but luck at these prices.

Default Konnor Griffin

Offensively he seems to have a young Trout-like skillset.
That plays nicely.

Card value-wise….oh Jeezus he’s pricey.

Harper was big as a teenager. He had an SI cover as a teen and went to a junior college just to be eligible for the MLB draft if I recall correctly. Social media in the late 00's wasnt the same as today. Strasburg was similar and both actually had careers to back the hype up. I think Jasson Dominguez might be about where Griffin is at now. But yes, as of now you are seeing it from a Pittsburgh and hobby lens. He'll pick up if he made the USA team or once he plays AND performs against the Dodgers and Yankees.

I opened a suitcase of flawless baseball and my big hit was

Konner Griffen auto patch to 10

So
I’m rooting for him

But major league pitching is so much better

Just need to take it slow he’s so young
