Baseball is a stat driven sport for sure while soccer isn't besides goals and to a much lesser extent assists and clean sheets. It is an interesting choice to display a legends "stats" solely based on his participation in the tournament with the team depicted on the card instead of his lifetime stats. Does that open the door for more Ibrah cards with other teams in the future? It's probably not really necessary.

I just don't understand why you build a grid with two stats across two tournaments ... and the numbers while impressive are just ... you know ... single digits. Let the numbers roll, my guy.

Inspired by the one of the MLB set on that board (edit: Joliet Jake created the original MLB sheet), I've been keeping a spreadsheet:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing

Very excited that they might have finally realised they need to include retired players (print runs have been sagging). Interesting that Ibrahimovic is included having already featured (first time a player has been given an additional card with a previous team). Could open up Ronaldo with Real Madrid, etc. that were missed. But it's the possibility of more retired players... Ronaldinho, Zidane, etc. that's really exciting to me... especially if I get Torres, Alonso and some other Liverpool legends.

Raul gives me hope that we get more retired stars.

Rivaldo this week. It's like a renaissance movement for this set. Perhaps too late but nonetheless it's nice.

Looks like they're doing one retired star each week.

Hope they can do a Cruyff with Ajax, an Maradona with Napoli, a Shearer with Newcastle, etc.

Pretty clearly RC driven set unfortunately:
Franco Mastantuono - UCC Living Set® - Card 821 - PR: 2987
Franck Ribéry - UCC Living Set® - Card 822 - PR: 627

Ribery is not exactly a big name when you're talking about retired players.....

I doubt he even comes close to making any top-100 list of all-time greats!

Make cards of guys like Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Maradona, Baggio, Zidane, etc. and you'd get much higher print runs.....

Not gonna argue any of that, just don't see why they would continue with retired players given that medium names do worse than a rookie ... all time greats do much better but still on par with rookies ... I maintain it's a set driven by RC players of medium+ caliber/promise

Ronaldo with Inter is perfect… I figured they’d choose a different club, but Inter was my hope and he was atop my want list. Zidane (hopefully with Juve) and Ronaldinho (has to be Barca) are the next two on my list… along with any Liverpool players they want to include!

I won’t be surprised if the retired player selections are constrained to the Champions League era though, so we might miss out on some of the older legends, but I guess time will tell.

Oh the irony.....this week features Isak with Liverpool, even though he never got a card with Newcastle.

Hmmm, pretty late in the day not to have the UCL Living Set cards up.

EDIT: and the cards are now up.

Last weeks cards were mysteriously off the page on Wednesday morning/afternoon as I checked for MLB/NBA releases. Later in the evening, I did a specific search for the cards in question (Marco Van Basten & Marcus Rashford) and found them with the timer running but it had said sold out. WTF?

Called Topps today after a miserable chat with AI (more like idiot than intelligence) but the human didn't help much either...cards are off the clock and nobody can do anything. Well that sucks.

So careful with those purchases from Topps...better to buy early than late. Though I doubt this would be an issue with Ohtani...imagine the card selling for 20 hrs and then drops off the face of the earth just to find it with a clock still running but sold out.

Just a cautionary tale here. Not really looking to find these particular cards at this point.

I place my order as soon as the cards are up...I only buy the retired GOATS, and generally buy five of each. So if you want a Van Basten, I can sell you one once my batch actually arrives in the mail.

Just noticed they never do retired legends from the Premier League just Serie A, La Liga and the French league… strange must not have the licensing…

We need a Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp Arsenal card, a Drogba and Lampard Chelsea card, a Michael Owen Liverpool card and a Beckham, Keane, Ruud Manchester United card.

Lampard was released early in the set’s run. As were a couple of other Premier League players. And Asprilla was released during the “reintroduction” of retired players, but they’ve not done many for sure. Recent Topps releases have retired Premier League players, so hopefully it’s just a matter of time.

Yeah, I'm just happy they have some retired players featured now. I'm collecting those more so than the latest RC. Judging by PRs that makes me a rare bird. Some of these numbers are just INSANELY low for generational talent ...

Baggio up this week.....already have done Pirlo and Del Piero this year for Juventus, and Van Basten for AC Milan.

Would love to see Gullit, Rijkaard, Baresi, and Maldini cards next year once AC Milan are back in Europe.

And really want to get a Alan Shearer cards this year, since Newcastle are unlikely to be in Europe next year.

They have the back of his card as Rodrigo Mendoza's back ... hope they don't print them that way.

Decent PR for Baggio: Roberto Baggio - UCC Living Set® - Card 867 - PR:1,457

Still concerned that the back for this card remains the wrong back ... they did that for Mortis Son in the Star Wars Living Set and had to send out new copies to everyone. Wake up Fanatics/Topps!

They've printed cards with the wrong backs early on in this set as well... won't be surprised if they don't make the change.
