Default Would you guys preorder triple threads or five star?

If going for some high end stuff? Probably a rip and flip except for a few things for the PC. Maybe like 2 cases of five star or a case or so of triple threads. I know they are huge gambles. Just seeing what other case openers of triple threads from last year think.

I would roll the dice with Five Star...but I am preemptively biased against Triple Threads, so take that with a grain of salt

If 5* bb is anything like fb, STAY AWAY!! TTT is gonna offer more hits and a 1/1. All high end is a HUGE crapshoot, tho. I'm staying away this year and putting that money into 4-5 cases of DRAFT!!

Good luck either way brother!

I really like the look of the high end cards but I keep hearing bad things. I guess the odds of hitting one of those awesome looking HOF cards are so rare it might be better to put money in something else.

5* is bad about ink smudges and bad chipping on the edges. 3+ grand on a case of TTT is ruff when you can get at least 3 cases of Draft with 36-40 autos of prospects who can be the next Trout or you can get a bunch of 2nd tier player autos in 5* or TTT. Of course, the draw is for the big name retired players like Ruth. But, I've yet to pull anything of value from either of the high ends you're looking at.

Just my honest opinion.

I don't think you can compare baseball Five Star to football Five Star. In football your booklet hit could be of one of the 40 or so rookies that they have in there, and of course it's not of Cam Newton, it's of a guy that will probably never start. In baseball you have Hall of Famers, and your active players are All Star caliber. If we have seen anything this year it's that 2012 is not all about the prospects, look at Tier One and how Topps Chrome is pre-selling. With the added value of whatever the "Five Star club" brings, I think this release is going to be big. I mean come on, all on-card autos, does it get any better than that?

A pity you changed it. 'All Star caliper' was a great typo!

A 5 star case is a little cheaper so if you dont hit big you aren't in as deep. I always love to rip open packs though and see what it is. Of course the more money invested the more it does hurt to get scrubs.

I did some triple threads football last year and was not happy with results at all. Chris Cooley and Taiwan Jones autos for ~$150

stay away from 5 Star. TTT has been around for a while and continues to do well. Moral of the story, stick with what works.

9 boxes of TTT at 1750 or 3 boxes of 5* at 1400. If I'm ripping to flip ill take quantity when prices are about equal. Not a fan of TTT but Id do it in this case.

I think quality control on TTT is a lot better too. Of course you can get burned if you get a case full of some semi-stars, but that's always the deal when you gamble on high end.

I think everyone should do at least one, then we all have "experience" when it comes to opinions on high end products, lol!

Findlay.... hometown of Mr. Ben Roethlisberger (even though he claims that he is from Cory Rawson which isn't even a town)

Football 5 star did ok based off of the rookie crop. The problem in translating it over to Baseball to me is that outside of Harper/Trout and maybe Darvish, I just don't see any other rookies selling well enough to cover at least 1/2 the cost of a box. You would have to hit a Pujols, Aaron, Koufax, etc to break even. For the cost, I would definitely go Triple Threads.

If you wanna gamble get either one...

If you hit big in 5 star a on card auto of Trout, Harper, Darvish, HOFers could bring in huge money

TTT does give you a 1/1 which is normally a white whale (cough out of 4 cough lol)

With 5 star it's hard to gauge until you see some broken but by then prices have already gone up a lot

I cant afford a case of 5 star, but have a box reserved at my LCS. Huge gamble, but should be fun.
