I'll be the first to admit I didn't notice until today just how amazing Favre has been this year. After a slow start statistically, he now has a 21-3 TD-INT ratio, a completion percentage close to 70% (his career average is 61%), and of course, his team is winning. So why is he doing so well when he had a subpar year just a season ago?
This may be met with varying opinions, but I believe that Favre, in the end, struggled in 2008 with the Jets because he "ended up there". His motivation was just to keep playing, not to win a championship, because the Jets were not a championship-caliber team. He then retired again, and only came back when presented an opportunity to lead the Vikings, who have a great defense (for the most part) and an absolute stud RB in Adrian Peterson. (You also cannot ignore the two matchups against the Packers, and playing indoors 11 times in 2009). The only thing missing was a quality QB behind center. Favre was able to take his time recovering before signing, which also I believe played a huge part in his success this year. As much as I hate to say it, the stars are aligned for him to lead this team to a Super Bowl if he stays healthy. The only team I think comes close to challenging them is the Saints, obviously. |

He was hurt last year too with the Jets but played through it. I think that was also a big factor why his numbers were subpar last season...

before injury last year his numbers were great and he was in MVP conversation.
He is the difference in the Vikings this year. With out Favre the Vikes are a 9-7 team. With him 14-2. His #1 motivation is to Stick it to Ted Thompson. Which he has done. Brett will always be a Packer and someday will retire a Packer. I bleed Green and Gold and cheer for the Pack everyweek. But I do cheer for Brett Also even though I hate the vikings. I believe you can be both a favre and a Packers fan. Come on the guy has started 301 straight games. Unbelievable !! What he did for Green Bay can never be forgotten and the way they treated him on the fied sucked. If Packers fans should have given him silence to make him nervous instead of Booing to motivate him. Go Brett win a Super Bowl if The Packers can not. |

5 reasons
1) o-line. He has one of the best if not the best left sides of the o-line with steve hutchinson and Mckinee guarding his blind side. 2) emergence of sidney rice - this could be directly to favre coming to the team however he really has come out of his shell and has shown solid hands and big play ability 3) AP all day. offenses have to spend a lot of time on how to minimize his ability - he is the most dynamic RB in the league. If he wasnt there Favre would have a lot more problems 4) The defense. Why? Well first the defense is solid so the offense has the ball a bit more and they commit to the run a lot and wear down teams. It also allows Favre to not "go for the win" like he often does and he usually overdoes it and thats where you see a lot of his interceptions. 5) Coaching - he is very comfortable in this system

He's like that squirrel in the Ice Age films. Winning the Super Bowl is Brett Favre's acorn. Unlike the squirrel, the elements are allowing Brett to chase his goal.

Did not Tavaris Jackson play with the same O-line? Same Defense?
Brett is a great QB. Favre surely noticed the Vikings had talent several years ago. The only thing that was missing was a good QB. For years, he was forced to play with subpar talent at Green Bay (Amid Green, whatever his name is) He was a joke, I threw his football cards under my bed! Come on, Man! Favre wanted a chance to play at another Super Bowl. The Viking might give him the opportunity. |

I bet the Panthers beat them:
my biased prediction - Panthers win out 10-6, Titans win out 10-6 they play in the superbowl with the game titled "Unbelievable Season" anyway the Vikings have had an easy schedule, but they are clicking and they will make the Super Bowl ahead of the Saints I think.
