Default Mike Olt-do you think this will be his breakout year?

Guy destroyed the minors but didn't play too much last year, is this his year to start at 3rd and put up nice numbers?

Agreed. If he was as good as people think I would imagine Texas would pencil him in to start at 1st. The fact that they haven't really makes me wonder. Other than his power I am not sold and haven't bought into him.

This guy may *someday* comply 30-40 home runs...he will also comply 150 strikeout seasons along the way with a batting average around .230-.250

Chris Davis had a pretty good 2012 season with Baltimore. .270avg .501slg% 33 HR 85 RBI (however 169 strikeouts and a low OBP)

Rangers are no longer in the running for Upton, they said Towers was asking for too much and they are done trying to make deals. They declined an offer because Towers is looking for Profar and Rangers don't want to deal him.

Braves have been reported to be most likely candidates to get Upton...hell yeah, I hope it happens...get it done Wren!

Personally I don't think the Braves have good enough prospects to match what the Mariners offered for him. Towers was willing to trade Justin Upton to Braves straight up for Andrelton Simmons but Wren declined that offer and I'm glad he did because Simmons is going to be a superstar, he has already been rated as one of the top defensive shortstops in baseball and has only played a little less than two months in the majors.

I'm not nuts and never suggested it, but I did totally forget they have Beltre, I just wanted to know if people think he can be a player at that level.

Olt could have a great second half of the season if he plays well in AAA ball, the rangers make a deadline deal to solve a weakness in their roster (injury/or just to bolster a spot) I could see him being delt pretty easily esp if the rangers are trailing but still in it to the A's and Angels. However, his AA manager said he could play multiple positions, including 2b, so if profar doesnt pan out you could see him take a utility type role letting beltre/kinsler (both who can be oft-injured) get some needed rest while still maintaining a power presence in that lineup.

I dont think Olt will stay with the Rangers, I could see them trading him in a midseason trade. He won't play 3B with us and his value hurts if they tried to force him into being a 1B. I can see Gallo taking over 3B once Beltre's contract is up, he should be close to ML ready at that point and he has the higher upside if he can cut down is K rate.

If he stays with the Rangers, his best shot at playing time would be at first. I think it's gonna be toygh to get time there though too.

I think he will be a .220 - .230 hitter with 30 HR potential but tons of k's. Think Carlos Pena.

THere are zero plans to start him at 3rd....there isn't even a plan to give him significant time at 1st. He proved to be an ineffective outfielder last season. Washington doesn't trust him. They tried to trade him in the offseason, but couldn't work out a deal. That doesn't exactly instill confidence that this will be his breakout year, does it?

Gallo will either be moved to first or outfield, his glove needs a lot of work look how many Errors he had in the short season......he has a VERY live arm and made throwing mistakes as well.......I think we should convert to pitcher 98+ on radar

Yeah Like everyone else said, he wont sniff 3B because of Beltre. They want to trade him but guess havent found the right deal. They have the same problem at 2/ss with Andrus, Profar and kinsler. They want Upton so why dont they just do the trade, Olt, Profar or Andrus for Upton, with the depth texas has not sure why they wont pull the trigger.

Because they think that's too much to pay for Upton...and I totally agree with the FO on that. Olt and Profar for Upton is robbery. I think they offered something more along the lines of Olt and other mid-range prospects like Perez. But they weren't sending their best two prospect or their All-star SS for freakin' Upton.
