What does everyone think Merle was going to do with Michonne? Use her as bait to get to the governor? He was looking for something, drugs, or alcohol, from the beginning of the episode so his intentions never changed and from past episodes he knew the governor would not stop if he got her.

Hard to tell but I doubt they'd kill off Darryl. But there's been quite a few on the talking dead that didn't die in the show(Glenn, Maggie, Beth, Andrea). But you never know. I kinda hope they finish the battle with Woodbury this season so they can move on to somethin else next season.

I highly doubt they'd kill him..And him being my favorite character they better not.

I'm sure the writers and creators know Daryl is right up there with Rick in terms of popularity and likability, so I don't think we'd see either of them killed off (if ever at all) for a longggg time.

I'm not so sure. A possibility that I considered after this episode:

- The Woodbury army storms the prison, only to find that no one is there.
- Meanwhile, Rick's crew (who have obviously fled the prison) approach the Woodbury gate (where Tyreese and his sister are the only people left to guard the wall), Rick tells them what is really going on, Tyreese then fetches Milton who is convinced to let them in.
- They release Andrea from her prison, and all together they convince the people of Woodbury that the Governor and his crew are evil. Rick gives the same spiel about democracy, yada yada yada.
- The Woodbury army returns, season ends.

i think that the are finally doing what i said from the start... once the Woodbury army gets to the prison, lead them in whatever way you want (you have the keys to the cell blocks) and trap them in there... either to rot, or for the walkers to get them.

If you watch the preview for next weeks episode again, when the "army" is walking up to the prison you may notice there aren't any walkers around...

That is a good point - allows the Rick group the opportunity to use the prison to their advantage one last time before abandoning it for greener pastures. And not to generate spoilers (but seriously if you want to avoid them you should probably GTFO of this thread) but given the info above regarding the gradually decaying integrity of the zombies, and given the fact that this has occurred inside of a calendar year after the precipitating event, could it be that after another year or so the "walker" problem will resolve itself, and all that will be left for the few survivors is the challenge of rebuilding society anew amidst the wreckage?

FWIW I can't wait to see how the Governor is offed - he is perfectly cast as the kind of character you love to hate - getting more autocratic and ruthless as Rick seems to be climbing his way back from the depths.

One other question - why did Merle put that old rotary phone in his backpack before hoodwinking Michonne?

he hit her over the head with it, and then used the cord to tie her hands up

I believe he grabbed it because he used the phone chord to tie her hands when she was in the car. And he ripped off the rotary dial part and had her place her fingers in it so she couldn't undo herself

That's what we saw on the close up when he cut her free in the car

Just saw a sneak-peak. Showed the Governor and his crew taking the outside of the prison with no opposition. Alan was leading the charge and I did not see Tyreese anywhere. Hmmm. Yeah. Wonder how many characters die in the season 3 finale.

Need to think about it more, but with Tyreese not being there, and Andrea eventually needing to be freed, does Rick and the crew go to Woodbury as the Governor goes to the Prison? Two characters that won't fair well on the road are the baby and Hershel. Glen has married his daughter and became a "man," so think he dies?

I actually subscribe to rolling stone, and Andrew Lincoln said the only spoiler he'll give is that 27 people will die. Granted they could all be walkers, but that's doubtful

This is what I suspect will happen (see my post above). I really like the possibility that the prison crew could trap the Woodbury army within the prison. I could see the prison crew quickly "over-taking" Woodbury, instating a democracy, etc, and the show making a shift toward rebuilding society in Season 4 (as the walkers are obviously degenerating).

FWIW, I think the baby would be just fine on the road ... Hershel, obviously, would not.

I like this too but am starting to wonder if the Governor has been so blinded by rage that he'll fall so easily into what is pretty obviously a trap.
And if 27 die, how could walkers be counted as they are already dead, no? That points to a pretty high toll for the Woodbury Wildcats if you ask me, with at least one, and possibly a few of the Prison Gang being lost (poor Hershel!).

What difference does it make if the walkers are rotting away or not? Everybody has it so every new death, by walker or not, results in a new zombie.

If there is no final showdown, so many fans are going to be PISSED. It's a colossal cop out that the entire season has been building to, and for it to not happen would be the absolute worst possible thing that could happen to the show at this time, outside of killing Daryl.

The worst part is that it not only could happen, but it totally makes sense because of the numbers game.

I think it makes a difference because you won't have to deal with hoards and hoards of walkers. If the current walkers begin to rot and become easier to kill, easier to avoid, easier to capture then that reduces their effect to over run towns and camps. I think most groups of survivors know or will find out that everyone is infected. At that point, they can come up with ways to handle deaths to prevent the spreading of roaming walkers.

When I saw that all I could think was "wow it would be so easy to take them all out". They are all bunched up together, and a few people on higher ground (the roof for example) could machine gun them to death or even throw a few grenades (which I can't remember if they took some or not. I may be confusing that with the comic).

Only the living that are killed in ways other than destroying the brain will re-generate. i.e. the Governor wanted a certain person to regenerate so when he killed him, he did so in a way to not destroy his brain.

So not every new death will result in a walker.

Yeah, guessing a lot of those people will be people of Woodbury we're unfamiliar with. ~Seven people died last episode and the only impact one was Merle. Guessing we lost one or two people from the prison, a couple of the guys who are close to the Governor, and then all Woodbury folk.

But wouldn't that mean the people of Woodbury would be part of the "prison group"? Aside from the doctor, Tyreese, and his sister, don't see any of them joining the main group. I don't think trapping with be dramatic enough. The question I have is where the main battle will take place, as there has to be some sort of big fight in the finale, but if the governor were to die, I don't think they revealed enough of his pre-zombie past yet and didn't lead up to it well.
