Default Anyone have info on Skybox Gargoyles Autographs?

I found this card in a lot I bought, but I can't seem to find information on Google or eBay about autographs that were in this set. It's numbered 2/50 and signed in gold ink. The card is a pop-up (#50 - Gargoyles Move to the Clocktower). Any info would be appreciated.

I do not think this is a pack pulled auto. Almost certain its not, not sure if its authentic either. I have seen many of these UNSIGNED. I had a box full of some old school offbeat cards like Gargoyles, TMNT, ETC. I do not think it is legit.

A. During this series there werent any numbered autos
B. The set checklist doesnt provide ANY info on these existing.

Box Break: Gargoyles: Series One (SkyBox, 1995) (Retail) - Trading Cards News and Resources - Trader Crack's

Above is the checklist.

It may be an IP auto, but if it is a "celebrity" auto putting any numbering on it would be somewhat suspicious.

NSlists doesn't mention anything about autos either- the only special card was a redemption card for Gargoyles video.

I posted on a Gargoyles forum to see if anyone recognized the signature. I'll let you know if I hear anything.

If this is an ARTIST signature, even IP. Like one of the Animators of the show, I think that would be much more interesting than any Celebrity auto.

That is just something I thought could be possible after looking around.

Also it appears to be Goliath, but the voice actor is Keith David

Gargoyles (TV Series 1994?1996) - IMDb

The Auto on There does not look like Keith David, So I am assuming it is an animator/producer/artist.

First off I do not know what the pack inserted popups look like from this set in person, but looking at what they look like, and how they are numbered I do not believe you have a 'pop-up' as they are pack inserted.

From looking at your photobucket and how your other scans look I'd be more of the mind this card is a multi-layerd card. It seems the top, or forward layer of the card, the gargoyle, is roughly cut out of another copy of the card #50 and then somehow attached to a second copy of the card, layering it up. Almost like a simple diorama.

The visual on the gold autograph is pretty fuzzy. Perhaps a cell phone photo would even be better since scanners have such a shallow depth of field and even 1/16" off from the scanner bed is a massive distance, so this being 1/8" or more just gives a muddy result for detail like signature identification.

There are two possible people associated with the show who have last names starting with a "B", but again hard to ID from the scan if the last name even starts with a "B".

Considering the rest of the facts with the card I'd be much more of a mind that the card is a fan made piece sold for personal profit rather than something 'official' associated with the show, and the autograph is of that artist. If this was made by Skybox the cutout of the gargoyle probably would've been more professional. But a clearer image of the signature would help all around.

But again, I've no first hand knowledge of these cards and just going on what I see.

The Card's authenticity was already addressed. If you read the rest of the thread, it was made clear this is not located on the Checklist.

There is a very slim chance it is a promo card. Though they are clearly marked. Many of the Animated series cards released quite a large amount of promotional cards. The autograph is NOT affiliated with the company, it was signed after the fact (which was already made clear as well)

Here is a Disney Version of a promotional card. You can see it is clearly marked.

If it is just a homemade card it is still a conversation piece. Just does not have any value.

I read the entire thread and not seeing a clear answer on what the card actually is weighed in with my observations and asked for a better image of the signature. Empirical evidence is better than supposition and if the signature can be matched with a known show talent that would give a possible lead as to it's creation.

But seeing as you have this all under control, Mr. Sunshine, I'll leave you to it.

Thanks for the detective work, guys. As mentioned above, it looks like someone created the card. Whether it's their signature...no idea. Here's a better look at the sig.

I collectred both series of these cards- and have everything out there for them- (including the reversed image puzzle cards)- there were no cutout cards produced by skybox-- they had a set of those pop up cards that were popular in the early 90's some sketch f/x inserts, and one lenticular card, the video redemption, and some generic promos.. Just your standard early 90's card set chase cards..

No autos, no sketches, nothing numbered...

But nothing that looked like this-- all base cards were generic flat cards..

I don't think that name even has anything to do with the series- going through the IMDB listing- even for the production staff nothing even comes close..- I think it may be the fan/artist who made them-- maybe he made a series of those multilevel shadowbox type diecut cards that became a fad in the late 90s for a little bit.. There was a local guy near me who would make them out of local Redskin player common cards..
