Default Andre Johnson to be cut or traded

This sucks, but it was expected. Best of luck to him.

Report: Andre Johnson will be released if Texans can’t find trade partner | ProFootballTalk

"According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans are allowing Andre Johnson to seek a trade. If Johnson is not dealt, he will be released, the Chronicle reported."

34 years old. Struggles to stay healthy. I don't think he will find anyone to trade for him and take on his contract. I think he gets cut and takes a short 1 or 2 year deal for like 3 or 4 million total.

He's missed one game the last three seasons (concussion). I wouldn't call that a struggle. I agree he will probably end up being cut because his contract is pretty high. He can get more than 3-4 million for a two year deal in my opinion.

he doesnt have health issues. his drop in production is due to him being targeted less. when mallett and keenum were playing at the end of the season he got a lot more targets and catches. has he lost a step? yes. is he still one of the top 5 receivers in the league? yes. he will go somewhere else and have another 100 catch 1200+ yard season. NFL.com just confirmed this report about 30 minutes ago.

Cant believe he has the numbers he does with Carr Schaub Keenum and Fitzpatrick throwing him the rock for his career.

Dude is a beast and will not be out of work for long if he gets cut thats for sure.

up till last year he was and always has been a top 5 receiver in the league. just because the head coach works him out of playing time doesnt change it. if he goes to a team with any real quarteback he will go 100catches and 1200+ yards like he always has and be right where i say he is. guaranteed

he wasnt top 5 last year, he was like 3rd in receptions 7th in yards and 38th in tds with 5. aj green, ab, dt, gordon, alshon, calvin (on 20 less catches) were all better than him. he was probably top 10 last year, but still wasnt better than even those 6 guys. alshon is the only guy on that list with less than 8tds and he had 7, the rest of them have more yardage, all on less catches with the exception of ab.

SO PISSED !!!!!! IMO he is the best receiver I have seen when he was in his prime. Can't believe he is actually going. Why is this? Thought he was going to finish career there!!!!

Probably because he knows he only has a year or two left and wants a chance to win a championship and knows it won't happen in Texas.

its more a fact that bill obrien is "nicely" running him out of town. he doesnt fit with what obrien wants and his cap figure is too much for a 50 catch a year receiver which is what they want as a #2 wr. its sad, but the writing was on the wall all year long.

Hell probally be cut, but he's a hellava WR still. Id say 2-3 more years left if he's healthy. If he is cut, I'd think he'd have to look at Indy. Same division and that'd be nice to see a top notch QB in Luck throwing him the rock. If not Indy, NE would be the next choice with brady.

He's out because he's no longer the #1, Deandre Hopkins is, and he has a salary hit of like... 16 Million this year to keep him. There is no room for sentiments when cutting you can mean the organization can sign a young player to fill a vital role, instead of having a secondary target behind Hopkins. He's a legend and will always be one of the all time greats, but as with every legend, eventually you just lose your steam and have to go out to pasture.

And to think, I wanted (and got) Charles Rogers in 03 over him..

Great player who still has good football left.

I'd love to see the Chargers make a run at him, although we need more speed at WR, it's hard to go wrong with a guy like Andre. He'd be a huge upgrade over Eddie Royal to see opposite Keenan Allen and Malcom Floyd.

I don't think you watch any Texans games nor finish reading before you reply. Last season (2013), minus TDs, Andre WAS a top 5 receiver. This season (2014) he fell off because of poor QB play and less targets, whether by design or QB quality.

If he goes to the NFC I might actually have a second PC team. There are several NFC teams that could use a player/leader like Andre. If a team like Carolina picked him up they would take a big step forward.

I PC Andre Johnson and Brandon Marshall as current players. As for Andre i am more then happy. He showed that he could still be VERY productive when Case Keenum was playing at the end of last season and hes just two seasons removed from 1500 yards i believe. So many decent to good teams could use both of these guys is released or traded, panthers, ravens, packers if they lose cobb, patriots, seahawks, rams, colts, chiefs, niners, bills, to name a few off the top that dont suck. Give my guys a shot on a team that can at least make the playoffs.
