Pardon the formatting, on mobile. With the ninth pick in the second round, the Buffalo Bills select: Heath Shuler, QB.

Could someone PM the next person up please? Thank you very much!

No need. I'll pick in a second.

[2,10]Cincinnati Bengals: Vernon Gholston (DE)

Gholston was the 6th overall pick in 2008 and never recorded a single sack for his career. How's that for lacking production?

PM'ing next.

Well, I think that settles the winner of the biggest bust at Kicker debate.

[2,12] Detroit Lions: Sammie Smith (RB)

Source

Quote:
Smith's career is defined by one play. Without it, he might just be one more 1st round draft bust, instead of being a pariah to Dolphin fans. In a game against the Houston Oilers in 1991, the Dolphins were trailing late in the 4th quarter. Marino drove the team to the goal line. With time running out, Smith took the hand-off, went over the top and fumbled the ball away. Houston recovered and held on to win 17 - 13. It was a carbon copy of a play from the previous week, where Smith fumbled into the end zone against the Chiefs. That one was run back for a touchdown. The back to back fumbles were labeled the "Double Whammy on Sammie". Fans had seen enough of Sammie Smith and what followed was one of the ugliest scenes in professional sports. The entire stadium erupted in chants of "Sammie Sucks". Smith needed a police escort from the stadium. ...his own stadium. He said after the game that he doubted he could play for the Dolphins anymore. He was right.

[3,2] Detroit Lions: Rae Carruth (WR)

Draft Pick: 27th overall in the 1997 NFL draft

Quote:
He was an All-American at Colorado, working a great deal with Kordell Stewart. Carruth also had a decent rookie season, earning All-Rookie honors in 1997.

It is what happened during the 1999 season that puts him on this list and many more around the web. His girlfriend was shot three times at point-blank range, surviving the shooting to call 911 and indicate that Carruth was responsible for the crime.

After spending time on the lam, the troubled receiver was captured by the FBI and indicted on conspiracy to commit murder after his pregnant girlfriend died. It is widely believed that Carruth hired a friend to murder her because of the pregnancy and fear she was after his money. Fortunately, the baby survived.

He was later spared the death penalty and is serving an 18- to 24-year prison sentence; he is expected to be released in 2018.

[3,4]Cincinnati Bengals: Kenneth Sims (DT)

They don't get much worse than Kenneth Sims. The Patriots could have selected Hall of Fame rusher, Marcus Allen. Instead, the Pats selected Sims #1 overall in the 1982 Draft and the massive bust ended up averaging 2.1 sacks per season for his 8 year career. Sims was tagged with the nickname "Game Day" when he explained his lack of interest in practice by saying "I'll be there on game day." In June 1990, Sims was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine in Austin, Texas. Shortly after the arrest, the Patriots released Sims, who was out of shape, and he eventually retired.. He only once played a full NFL season. Sims was tagged with the nickname "Game Day" when he explained his lack of interest in practice by saying "I'll be there on game day." Going to pair this guy with manziel on the field and play him at the FB position for now where he's listed when he played with the jets. Also can't wait for him to get me a healthy one yard per carry out of the wildcat

(3,6) Philadelphia Eagles: Tim Tebow (HB/FB)

Also love the symatry of him being signed by this team in real life!

[3,9] Chicago Cardinals select Aaron Maybin (DST)

Maybin was drafted 11th overall by the Bills in 2009. In his 4 year NFL career, he played in 48 games with just one start. He made just 25 tackles. He was regularly manhandled in practice by ED WANG. He did have 6 career sacks (all in 2011 with the New York Jets) but according to sources they were all either coverage sacks or blown assignments. So nothing to be too proud of.

The stats that really stand out - for the Bills he had 14 tackles in 27 games (one start). That's awful for a 1st round pick, let alone with guys like Connor Barwin, Brian Orakpo, and Henry Melton picked behind him.

We look forward to seeing if Todd Marinovich can handle him as well as Ed Wang could.

A question came up if the OffFlex could be used for an OL. Considering we've only had two picked, we're early enough on to clarify this rule. In addition, there are quite a few to pick from and one roster spot is not enough.

I'm making an executive decision that OL can be your OffFlex.
