Default Blue Jays' Drew Hutchinson optioned to AAA despite 12-2 record this year....

I don't care if the guy's ERA is 5.06. He does enough to get wins. 12-2!!!!

Haven't the Blue Jays ever heard of "playing the rush"?

1. Its Hutchison, no n.

Wins are probably the most useless stat in all of baseball. 1.4 WHIP isnt good either.

In his 12 wins, this is how much run support he got

6
7
7
6
7
8
8
3
6
9
4
3

I can see why he got 12 wins with all that support

I was surprised to see this too. I know he's not pitching as well as his record, but still. Sounds like Jays won't need a 5th starter until next weekend, so they decided to send him down and bring up some hitting depth (really?)

Really? Trying reading any baseball book from the last decade and see how useless wins stats are

I'm sitting on some of his stuff and I've been waiting for the WHIP and WARP to be better in line before selling. I was also hoping that with the Jays success that he would start pitching better- I guess I'm still waiting...

Not that interesting when he is horrible on the road and a 5.06 era. Follow the team then make an educated statement.

If you had said that his TEAMMATES did enough to win, I'd agree with you. They win IN SPITE of him, not because of him.

Because the Blue Jays aren't stupid and they know just how useless the win/loss stat is when it comes to pitchers.

He's not as good as his record but he's nowhere near as bad as his ERA. His FIP is under 4 and appears to have had very bad BABIP luck too. Who are they going to replace him with?! Not like they have a bunch of studs taking up space in that rotation...

Does Hutchison have like a 5-game winning streak? I say let him start until your team loses one game. Maybe the players like hitting for him when he's on the mound. Still makes no sense to ignore his W-L.

Doesn't hurt my feelings it's just difficult to have a baseball conversation when your contribution is "he sucks"

I'm sure that took lots of research to figure that out!

You guys are missing why they are doing this... With 8 games in 10 or 11 days, I can't remember, they are doing a 4 man rotation. Hutch is the #5 guy right now and will be sent to AAA so he doesn't miss a start. The other great reason for this is the jays can call up a guy to be on the bench, whether it is a pinch hitter, a defensive specialist, or a speedy guy.... Strategic move and Drew will be back afterwards....

I don't follow him at all, but with the run support shown a lot of mediocre guys could be 12-2

Can't believe it took this long for someone to explain it. People in this thread really thought that they just shipped him off to AAA for performance.
