Question Need Help!

So, I'll be attending a con next month and Billy Dee Williams will be making an appearance. I have a a few of the recent solo series I'll be getting signed/graded. However, I'm looking for his 1st appearance. I've seen on a few sites that his 1st app is possibly Star Wars #43 "Empire Strikes Back". Is this truly correct? I've see on the bay a few sold slabs, but doesn't state on the label his 1st app. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

From what I can tell, Lando Calrissian first appeared in Star Wars #42

I'm pretty sure Lando is only mentioned in #42 but first appears on panel in #43.

Didn't the Marvel Super Special Magazine (#16, I think it was) with the full adaptation of ESB predate the version of it that was then serialized in the regular monthly comic book?

Yep, you're correct. That book hit Spring 1980 when the movie was released. The series of comics got to Empire towards the end of that year.

I think #43 would be a cool book to get signed specifically for the cover.

P.S - OP, Billy Dee was due to appear at a con in my town that past weekend, but had to cancel due to ill health. I hope he makes it out to yours, he's a great guy to meet.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. As in the Colt 45 forty, that would be epic.
