Got a bowman chrome base rookie coming back from PSA... Not expecting a 10, but man... I can only hope. Paid like $50 for it 4-5 years ago.

Yeah, I went a little crazy back in March when I posted here. Bought maybe 75-100 cards. Bought a lot of cheap ones that have taken off - 8 Rookie Exclusives for around $30 each, a stack of those City Heights for around $5-$10 each, Tradition, Upper Deck MVP, Etopps, etc. Waiting for grades to pop from PSA. Prices have definitely taken a turn since my purchases.

Whoops I meant UD MVP, not UD Victory. I think I paid like $30 for the MVP a few months ago. Clean looking raw copies are now going for $250ish...some as high as $300+. It’s really nutty how high some of these have gotten.

Seemed like a lot at the time, but the TC by itself now is getting close to doubling that total. However, there were a couple more I wanted to get that are now probably out of my price range forever.
Haha yeah, it's crazy. I don't think I'll be going for any more of his high-end RCs (except for 1 or 2 on my list) unless they're priced too good to pass up.

I just purchased a BGS 9 this morning.

I regret not securing a variety of non-numbered true LeBron RCs (raw or BGS/PSA 9s) when I first encountered this thread.

Do you guys think the 2003-04 upper deck star rookie set can become the next 1986 fleer? It has LeBron, Melo, D-Wade, Bosh and quite a few role players.

The last set sold one the bay for near $3000(mainly because of BGS 9.5 Lebron) - https://www.ebay.com/itm/2003-Upper-...orig_cvip=true

Fleer rookie really took a dump. Was up to 900 in psa 9 a month ago. Now it's like 500.

Got two Lebron base rookies, Topps Chrome graded picked up years ago, and E-X. E-X prob my fav in terms of design and look. Maybe pick up the Wade E-X rookie at some point.

I'd love to pick up a few more Lebron rookies, but prices are tough. Maybe base Fleer, UD Black Diamond at some point.

Thanks
OP,

Out of curiosity, what 03-04 LeBron RCs have you added since this post? Did you ever add the EX base and Pristine /1999? Did you add some other ones instead of or addition to the former 2?

Usually I like Topps and base rookies, but I just straight up don't like the image on this one. I find it unappealing. Much prefer the Fleer Traditions base rookie in terms of simplicity and the look.

This one is pretty affordable (can find it raw on ebay for less than $50).

Any opinions on what’s still “good value” in the $300-$800 range raw decent condition. I’m aware the markets nuts but what would you guys buy and forget at that price.

I just bought an etopps. Gorgeous card. Probably the best Lebron rookie card you can get for under 500 bucks at this point

I have this card as well. I have thought about selling while prices are up but just can’t get myself to do it.

Thread on this has been dormant the past few months

What have you noticed about undervalued Lebron rookie cards--up/down/flat?

Your picks?

Buy them all now. Criminally undervalued. All of them.

Agreed. Really doesn't matter which one, I would suggest buying graded just so you aren't waiting for cards come playoffs which is usually when his cards peak.

Oh that brings back memories. I had to comment. I remember venturing to LeBron before he even won his rings. that was fun and scary moments spending 150 for chrome rc many eons ago. If you have some money, the UD reflections and exclusives RCs are good to start with too. I find his Fleer RCs are undervalued compare to Topps as well. Keep us posted on what you find.

100% agreed
Seeing Curry flagship Topps @ PSA 9 selling for same as LBJ flagship Topps PSA 9 is insane (and I love Steph!)
