After opening 3 cases...and seeing 100's of YG's.... I can definitely see BGS 9.5/10's and PSA 10's commanding a premium this year.

It's EXTREMELY difficult to find a YG that is even worth sending in for grading.

I almost, just now, bought a YG of Nick's but when I looked closer to inspect the condition, I quickly declined.

I was going to come here to post and ask about this rounded/damaged corner issue but thought I had better check out this thread first.

Glad I did. This issue truly sucks and will put my want for Nick's YG card on the back burner unless I can find one for a decent price with sharp corners.

I bought two boxes to get the Lafreniere..Only got a YG checklist for him, but after seeing the corners will not buy another box. Junk

There was a sale elsewhere fo $100 on hobby couldn’t pull the trigger to much concern over the damage of cards.

All the boxes/cases seemed fine from my LCS.

No one was complaining.

A seller I was talking with last night about his particular card and throwing offers back and forth for a Nick Robertson YG card offered me his card at a decent price. I asked about the condition of his card as his scan/listing did not have the zoom feature.
The seller told me it was "good" and told me I could return the card if I wasn't happy but I thought at this point, with the questionable corners that I could only somewhat make out, I declined.

Not sure what is going to become of this issue, if anything, but I am not willing to take a chance on anymore YG cards at this point. I purchased a couple Ty Dellandrea YG cards before I knew about this issue and that is enough for me. If these arrive damaged or with rounded corners, they will be returned.

Looking at sold listings of a variety of YG's, you can see many were sold to unsuspecting buyers already. What a sh*t show this is going to become!

Ultimately this will just drive demand for the Gem/Gem Mint Young Guns. We might not see the affect on prices in the short-term...but over the next couple of seasons the low POP's will keep prices high.

So you think those first graded YGs will outsell what graded mcdavid sold for after release? I don't think so. Anyone paying $1500 for a psa 10 is just nuts.

Pretty much true, and this is precisely what UD is hoping for. Those Bjorkstrand cards posted above are just shameful.

After going back thru my stacks this morning - the base cards I see most consistent flaws in (and nothing is nearly as bad as the Bjorkstrand) are:

16 Charlie McAvoy
51 Nathan MacKinnon
80 Aaron Ekblad
102 Matt Duchene
115 Nick Leddy
118 Jean-Gabriel Pageau
120 Tony DeAngelo
142 Geno Malkin
151 Marc-Edouard Vlasic
152 Jordan Bennington

Of those, all of them show consistent patterns of chipping or cracking along the top edge similar to -but way less pronounced than- the Bjorkstrand, apart from 115 (Leddy) which is just sort of consistently bad along the reverse top-right corner/edge.

Believe it or not someone bought 4 Blue Jacket team sets off of me on eBay and left positive feedback. I Gave him the 4 nicest Bjorkstrand's I had too. Shipped out about 40 team sets and have surprisingly had nothing but positive feedback so far... Considered canceling all orders, but didn't want to get hit with lack of inventory fees.

I don’t know how I got so lucky but none of my 4 boxes showed the bad corners, etc. everyone is experiencing. Of course, I didn’t pull a Laffy but not all of us can.

i surprisingly have a pretty good Bjorkstrand w/o the corner issues that i see above. then again i have 2 others that are a bit beat up too.
