But I think there are alternative explanations that keep the trains on time (well... delayed, but on current time... you get it...). The first is reconciling this weird print run difference between cards. I don't know if it would be what I would do if I were in charge... but it's possible they realized something was messed up and are re-packing with either a make-up collation or evening it out so that at least in this version all are equally likely (still making the original SP'd cards SP'd but not as SSP'd). Second is the delays are unrelated. They've had other releases hit release date while other things move. Sometimes you decide to sacrifice something to allow something else to happen. May be that they say "well, Draft is a priority..." (over first edition of... Draft... when half is already out the door... but I digress...). Maybe this is a problem with collation or how they packed the 50's. Not necessarily production or shipping. Maybe a different facility. Maybe the warehouse had a sprinkler triggered and all the cases are soaked. Who knows. THIRD is that they screwed this one up. Beyond just the SPs. But said one thing... did another. Realized they messed up. Now they need to redo a bunch of stuff. Had the B team on the 50's. Or maybe they undershot supply because of the odd format and people bad at spreadsheets/math. So kind of the second... unrelated delays... and Draft is going to be fine. |

I don't think the 50-pack box delay was planned beyond the week after Thanksgiving. I think the printer/packer & Topps had some miscommunication (sounds familiar with the yellow/orange thing in BC, right?) & thought there was only the one box configuration. A 50-pack box is weird! I don't know that Topps HAS an A Team. The quality of their employees does seem to have declined, as evidenced by the orange/yellow debacle BC, and now this. I guarantee you that they're aware of the SP thing now. I have no idea if they're going to let it stand. I think they should. The 50-pack boxes having a different collation set, a different level of rarity for base cards, than the 24 makes 0 sense. Maybe they're reprinting/repacking these so the SP are evenly distributed, but equal scarcity? Or, as you said, they're just reprinting/repacking with 'Take 2' collation that's even across all 200, which would be suckier. It makes the 24 pack boxes more desirable, since base of Davis & Lawlar & Mayer & Benny Montgomery would be ~40% easier to hit there. ___ That said. I agree that when Draft proper does get released, it'll be fine. I'm at the point of not caring one iota about the proximity of the 1st edition 50- pack boxes being released to Draft proper. There's a thread on facebook about this, and a couple people mentioned customer service saying the 50s didn't have enough hits or something and being recalled. But like you said, I haven't seen anyone saying they actually have received a 50 box yet. |

Yea I figured. This lack of hits thing seems to be a new thing that Topps customer service is pushing out there for people that call about it.

The 'lack of hits' talking point kinda sounds like smoke. People would be pissed if they end up with a higher rate of Sky Blue! Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk |

Getting cautiously optimistic we get this on time.. the two week mark would of been a good time to announce another delay.. can’t see them announcing a delay next week…

Well, bowman inception is on time for friday. Then, we have dynasty on the 22nd. Topps was also able to release ginter today. I see absolutely no reason why they cannot release draft two weeks from today. I hope I am not wrong.

It's not that it's 2 days, it's that it's ONLY 2 days. No point in announcing a 2 day bump if you're not going to hit it. Being so close to release, if this release was 'not quite ready to go it' would have been pushed to Jan 5th or 12th.
There's likely something else that caused the 2 day postponement -- such as not being able to guarantee all product would be in DC's by when they need to be. |

BO usually has product the week before release and strategically times their shipments with delivery zones. Not guaranteeing that to be the case with a product that has been delayed multiple times, but in theory BO would receive in time to get delivery anywhere in the US by the 31st.

Not to argue or doubt you guys, I live in Texas and have never received product on the day of release.. if it does release on 12/31, people on the east coast are gonna get a head start on us

The majority of my pre-release purchases arrive by drop date. A few a day before, and a few a day behind, but mostly on time. Although, I don't know how multiple pushes might affect that.

That is lucky, I did overnight shipping last year on 3 cases and still got them a day after release
