Sapphire is a tier above the hobby box which we have now. It will be more expensive and probably with less cards but with supposedly better quality

Boxes on ebay seem to be trending down. Could settle in the low $300s maybe even less.

Some sales under $275 on 130point.

The availability of blasters hurt the ceiling of hobby. Great news for the patient collector.

What should I know about Chrome Sapphire? This is the first Topps product I've ever bought and have no idea what a Sapphire release means.. except for the fact that the odds pdf file has cards exclusive to the Sapphire release it seems

Sapphire is the highest tier of Topps Chrome offering that applies a "cracked ice" effect to the full set. Typically much more limited print run, a few color per box, etc.

I got another hobby box today, all I got was a /25,/150, masterful meme and basic chase. This is my 2nd dry box. I'm not exactly inclined to get another right now.

I've seen multiple cases that don't have anything lower numbered than a single gold. Seems to run hot and cold, but there's also a lot of filler. Ive been in a bunch of breaks regrettably, because the singles market in 3 weeks is going to be littered and I should have just held out until then. That said, I'm a lifelong SpongeBob fan so had to join the chase.

Prices were grossly inflated before release. Reminds me of what happened with 2023-24 Topps Chrome basketball. Flippers & breakers messed/messes everything up and Fanatics is perfectly fine with it. You’ll notice box prices are already roughly down 20% from release day. I love the different hits in this product and the sketches are terrific but it’s a $150-175/box product. There’s quite a bit produced as Chrome has always been a low-mid tier brand. I come from the old school and that’s how it’s always been (collecting since 1987 & selling since 1998). With that being said I see these falling below 299 per box. It’s best just to buy the hits per the norm. Very few products these days hold their release date box/case value besides stuff like GPK 40th (cases entering $3k this weekend if you can find one).

The first 3 I opened had autographs.

/175 p.o.o.p card 83 good spongebob centric card
/175 Pa Cheeks card 113 my least favorite refractor behind sea bears
/175 sea bears card 144 my least favorite until I discovered pa cheeks
/199 here lies squidwards hopes and dreams card 92 my favorite card of this refractor as the themes fit perfectly
/199 troutenheimer card 98
Masterful memes card mm-4 looks like a psa mint 10 to me..
Masterful memes card mm-5 well atleast its spongebob centric I guess, not as good as card mm-4 ..


Along with a bunch of basic chase.

and a stack of Base cards that the value boxes have at 10x less the price

Opened 3 boxes. Got a Spongebob Driver's License /99 and a Patrick Fishing License /99. One auto. Not a ton else notable. Seems like those are selling really well.

been following closely, i think i'm going to go for a full color set, but i'm torn on what color to chase. i love spongebob. box prices are insane... miss the old days when I was getting rick and morty for $50 a box (1 sketch and auto per box, if I'm remembering correct)

Those were definitely the good ole’ days! Cryptozoic typically puts out a solid product (when they finally release lol). Even the direct to consumer Series 3 was awesome for the price.

It’s odd how high the regular sketch cards are selling for. Do buyers realize the best sketches are the Doodlebob cards? Granted they’re not in color or as detailed but they’re done by actual crew members. Not sure if I did the math correctly but I calculated 371 Doodlebob sketch cards in total (I could be off). Roughly 1 per 20 hobby cases. Those are incredibly tough odds plus case prices are over $4k.

Cases opened so far really remind me of the old Topps/Upper Deck days. They’re usually lopsided. When you hit you hit big in the case otherwise it’s the bare minimum.

I wished Topps made a card for “The Card”. That episode hits home with the current climate of trading cards. Definitely my favorite SpongeBob episode of all time.
