I’ve actually been taking this time to really do a deep dive into some different companies to find gems.

Firstly, Google had a blowout ER, absolutely amazing numbers and announced a split. My goal was to get 5 shares before July and I’ve been able to trim some other positions to do it. Great time to buy.

I also opened a short position on CVNA. I know it’s already down a ton but their model has headwinds from all angles this year and the stock will suffer.

Something to check out as a 5yr play would be the silicon carbide industry. Specifically ON and WOLF. They both have their own niche of SiC wafers.

With the electrification of everything there will be massive demand for high voltage devices such as inverters (for solar) and automotive plus many more applications. Worth a look at those 2.
Same! Been buying into more shares of google here and there - I'm tech heavy but i would rather have more shares of google than others atm - only 10% of my personal managed portfolio is in goog atm - hopefully can get this # higher as i move over some more liquidity . Nvda holds 13% and that one is painful atm haha

Yea, I think as long as you're willing to hold out and add more through the downturn to your high conviction names, you'll be just fine.

The market is very uncertain right now... no sense in trying to time it.

I think Google is a great buy right now. They have so many different revenue streams. Cant wait for the split so I'm not priced out of long dated options.

Not bad for 6x this years earnings.
~25% EPS beat today. How's that for some earnings.

Midterm elections plus all of the Geopolitical nonsense going on in the world should make for a perfect storm for them this year.

Do any of you have recommendations on which companies are best to open a brokerage account? I want to open an account to transfer my robinhood stocks into as well as get into a few ETF’s. I want to be able to access/trade myself but also have someone there to help/advise me.

I’ve looked into Charles Schwab and Fidelity so far. Both have options where you basically put money into an account which is automatically diversified and managed by their company. Leaning towards Schwab since my work 401k is with them already.

Any insight would be great!

Schwab fiedilty and vanguard are the best and easiest 3. Honestly can’t go wrong with any of them.

I have both Fidelity and Etrade. Been happy with both but Fidelity allows me to buy fractional shares whereas Etrade has not enabled that feature, at least for my account.

Well it was a non event until about 2 weeks ago. That’s why you have to constantly evaluate your position with new information.

Fortunately for me I have been buying XLE/GLD calls this week and I have SPY puts from 435-420.

Seriously feel bad for the people of Ukraine.

Great time to deploy cash.

Crude is up to 97, just about 5$ per barrell in pre-market trading. Futures are down....700 points right now. I flipped on CNBC Weds on lunch break and the group mentioned that XLE was priced as if oil was well below current prices. I have 12% in XLE , as a catchall for oil move.

CNN is showing footage of tank column just steaming into Ukraine via border crossing cam, doing 30 mph. Reports are attacks from multiple borders - Russia, Belarus, southern coast, etc

What is everyone going to buy on this dip? I’m expecting a reasonable sized dip.. good time to buy some of the giants if they fall like Google, Apple, Microsoft, ETC… other non tech companies

We will be buying calls/playing options that fit our criteria. Figure out how to execute later(if it gets to this point, we did something right). We will be purchasing calls 18 months out. I would expect the value of the underlying shares at strike to be well over $100m. We don't necessarily want the equity exposure to this market. This is absolutely not necessarily when you want to be caught screwing the dog on some margin requirements.

Remember how this works.

1 People are selling more than buying so the market drops.
2 Margin requirements become a concern as the share prices drops.
3 The big boys begin to liquidate larger positions in order to clear capital to avoid a margin call.
4 This adds fuel to the fire sale.
5 And then BOOM, the leveraged retail investor finally gets their margin call....at the very end of all this happening and at the second-to-worst possible time.

6 Now, the retail investor needs to liquidate. Once that happens, this is the worst time to sell. This selling really accelerates because this is Normally happening at a time when there is blood in the streets, so equities don't sound like a great place to have your money.

Which is then the best time for the big boys to redeploy the capital that they freed up in step 3. They either buy shares or buy the options.

Be careful out there, guys. This is when wolves eat.

I don't think many retail investors have a margin account but either way they'll get crushed as always.

Lessons way overdue.

Hopefully these cowards won't have another excuse not to raise rates. Hyperinflation here we come.

Do you even know what hyper inflation is?

Actually... nevermind, you definitely don't

It seems inevitable at this point that some sort of cyber conflict will be all over the news and that will move the cyber names. ZS and CRWD are the cream of the crop IMO.

I also love PANW

Hats off to the guy who was holding cash waiting for the 20% drop… he’s won the thread so far.

If he buys LOL. We'll only be down ~15% looks like at open and he seemed pretty firm on that 20% number.

I sure do wish I had more cash
