Thanks for the input guys. First Shaq auto for me, last decent redemption I had left open - now I just have like 10 sad autos like Larry Sanders. I think a rookie Isiah Thomas is probably the best one left

This is genuine. Consistent stroke and more samples of this came from Topps years. Lately most of Panini Shaq autos were like this one right here.

I still strongly believe the auto on those certain eras (Panini 2013-16) were not his. Got an info that even Panini employee himself not really sure about those signatures.

I’ve been referencing this thread a bit on IG and felt it deserved a bump here. There’s a lot of collectors spending big bucks for Shaq autos that aren’t Shaq autos.

And they spent huge $$ to buy these auto cards.....a $100 in my "era" now sold for $700-800, the "bettter signed" auto only $300-400 because it's later years. Investor thought 2013-16 already vintage LOL

Yes they did and still do, but some of that mail in autograph actually passed the grading authentication

I just picked up my first Shaq on card auto. It is the Topps Now 2022 Chuck Styles artist design to 49. It looks exactly like the 2021 Topps one referenced above. So am I safe to assume mines good? I finally pulled the trigger on a Shaq, then saw this thread lol.

Yeah sounds like you should be good. RimShaqer can give more detail, but the fakes have a hook on the end of S and a closed O in O’Neal. They are the ones labeled 2013-16 Panini in the image above.

if you are wanting one that you know is 100% real, you probably need to look at the 1992 Classic Draft Pics Promo from the Atlanta National with the black back stating authenticity that is signed in silver with the #33 inscription. Those were signed when he was the auto guest in the classic booth on friday, i believe. i swiped these pics from ebay

I do enjoy a card that's got a real nice clean Shaq auto. I'm sure he hates the mindless task of having to travel to Panini headquarters likely just once a year to sign whatever he can in an allotted time slot, but I appreciate the clean looking ones. Take these two for example:

I think the timing of that picture is important, too. This was after all the speculation that he wasn't signing his own stuff. Panini never directly addressed it. We got this social media post instead.

I think the point is that he is not traveling to Panini to sign. If those pictures are from 2016, then the ASG was in Toronto. Panini is in the Dallas rea.
