Sadly we lost one of our cats a day ago. We came home in the evening to find the cats food and water scattered across the kitchen floor and no Jasmine (our kitty) to be found. She had been prone to seizures and we thought maybe she had one which caused the food/water mess. Typically when she had a seizure she would come out if it but would act very confused like she didn't recognize her home or us for about an hour. We figured she must have got out the cat door leading out to the deck, wandered off and got lost. She rarely ever left the confines of the deck. I spent several hours that night walking the neighborhood but it was late so I didn't feel right shining a flashlight in everybody's yard. Unfortunately she was almost completely deaf as well and since it was late I couldn't yell out her name while looking for her. Never found her that night.
The next day I went to the local shelters to see if she'd been picked up but no luck. On the way home I drove around the neighborhood to see if I could find her or ask anyone I saw if they had seen her. Sadly about 2 blocks away I found her in the street and she had been hit by a car and didn't survive.
Sorry to go off topic but I figured I could also add her picture, and everybody loves cat pictures, right?
I also wanted to add that one of my coworkers is sick and has tested positive for the virus.
Found this out from another coworker. Funny thing is, my company has been strictly enforcing all the covid stuff, masks, social distancing, and nonstop emails, notes and meetings about it. Now that someone has tested positive.....crickets.
Sorry for the long post but I'm making up for lost time.
So far 2020 really sucks a big one.
Hope you all enjoy your weekend, I'm working 12's the next 3 days. YUCK.

Edit to add, RIP Jazz, you will be missed.

Been staying in northern CT with family during the pandemic and we were hit with the hurricane for hours. The tall trees were blowing in the wind like they were flowers in a field. Really scary stuff. Power went out and took 6 days to get back which was tough for this city boy. Power out in the city they throw the spotlights up at night and everybody is back online next day or sooner.

Really made me appreciate the basics like running water to wash dishes and shower and having a functioning computer to work from home and do my eBay card searches.

Sorry for your loss. We lost our dog of 14 years about 14 years ago. She came to work with me her last year and would greet customers from her couch. Sometimes customers would come in just to see her. Good memories.

RIP Jasmine.

Right, Left, we love our pets.
Sorry for your loss, Astros, and for the damage from the storm.
Scary stuff.

That first link I posted with the radar imaging is crazy.
Amazing how big and fast it was. Cedar Rapids east of us got it much worse than we did I believe, along with states east of Iowa.

The storm that you guys experienced is called a derecho, correct? I saw the radar as it played out on the Weather Channel. The video they were showing was unreal. It just kept going and going, like a hurricane. Anyway,I'm really sorry about your cat. She was beautiful. I'm sure that you gave her a great life. I'm also glad that you all are okay. Forget politics...this is life.

Rural people, veterans, the elderly...it's literally a matter of life and death for some, and I also hope it backfires. People need medication, bills are arriving late and even though people are paying them, they are receiving late notices, not to mention what that does to your credit score. It's not only the voting... messing with the USPS has many consequences to many people. It's just insane to do this.

I'm sorry for your loss. I've loved every one of my pets and wept when they have passed. Like you, I found one of my pets that had passed in a not so nice way and had to bury him. One of the hardest things I've had to do. Just treasure the time you had together.

I'm also glad you're safe from the storm. You and your family take care.

Thanks for the nice comments guys/gals.
Nice to see everyone have something in common.
Wish it wasn't my Jasmine that caused it, but still kind of reminds us we're all still brothers and sisters no matter how dysfunctional our family is.

Wanted to send my condolences. I shed a tear tonight. It must be very tough, but you sound like a great animal Dad, and I bet her life was wonderful!

All the best.

Spot on...your pets are your kids. I think most of us know that awful feeling. Again.I'm sorry that you had to go through all of that. From what I saw on TV,it was terrifying.

As a pet owner and a cat lover its basically your worst nightmare. I'm sorry you had to go through that but I'm thankful you were able to find her and were able to lay her to rest. She's a spitting image of my Eva.

Any updates on the kids schools for ages 14 and under? Is it all online or what?

Did any of the schools listen to your demands and cave in or did they win?

I am posting this not to bash Trump but to show some here how QAnon believers are living in an alternate reality. Some of the stories in this article I have never heard before and are quite alarming. By buying into and believing these conspiracy theorists’ stories, only confirms that most already knew; they’re nuts.

Promotes Pedo-Ring Conspiracy Theories. Now They’re Stealing Kids.

Adding one more pic of the storm that came through because I think it's kind of mind bokkling.
I had to do that.
Thanks one more time for the sentiments for my kitty cat.
