Well technically SGC is apart of the big 3 companies generally regarded in this hobby as experts. In my opinion, SGC has credibility and can be trusted. No company is 100% but we trust them to grade our cards and be fair.

I think it was the owner's preference I guess.

I have a hard time believing that someone would go to SGC before PSA or BGS....

Having said that, it's going to sell for a lot of money.... and I hope you get it.

You need that in your collection man.

I know a few guys who were big PSA guys (and they never liked BGS) who have begun using SGC since they started making their recent changes. New holder. New registry coming. Etc. They were fed up with PSAs service and wait times. Now these guys aren't all about resale so there's that. But I wouldn't discount SGC entirely.

If PSA says "no go" then BGS says "no go" you give your modern card to SGC

If PSA says "no go" then SGC says "no go" you give your vintage card to BVG

I like their new cases too.... well, I haven't held one in person, but I think they look slick.

But yeah.... to grade the card and then list it for sale, I'm using PSA or BGS.

Wasn't this is a PSA "authentic" holder at one point?

If it’s 1/10, you are correct.

I don’t understand why it wouldn’t be graded PSA or BGS? That’s kinda odd....and don’t give me the aesthetics of SGC, that’s bogus. If this is your card and you are selling I’m assuming you are getting some advice from super smart people, at no point do those super smart people say “you should have it graded by SGC”.

Course, maybe you’re not getting advice from anybody. At which point I don’t think anyone goes “I think I should have it graded by SGC”.

Not true.

I got my first mid/late-2000s rookie cards graded by SGC because their rep would stop by my LHS for pickups - mostly vintage obvs, but I saw no reason not to use them at the time of my return to the hobby.

I don't know how much basketball guys deal with SGC, but for vintage baseball (and I mean pre-war vintage), one of the benefits of grading with SGC is they will not list "trimmed" or "altered" on their flip, unlike PSA.

So if you have a T206 Ty Cobb, for example, which was slightly trimmed, PSA will brand it "Authentic" but the flip will read "trimmed" or "altered." With SGC, it would just write "A" on the flip, whether restored, trimmed, whatever. See here, for example:

Bottomline the SGC A label would make me suspicious of any card, but especially a modern one.

Good to know.

Grading this card with SGC is a joke. If not for any reason other than the doubt it will raise about its authenticity and being free from alteration.

Well there are 10 of them. Probably one of the only chances you’ll ever get.

Isn’t it a good time to buy if the market is taking a dump as you say?

lmao, he's been spinning his wheels on "pulling the trigger" on a Lebron RPA for a while in that other price check thread that he keeps bumping every 6-8 months or whatever the rate of bumpage is.

By the way, I totally have the money to buy this Jordan PMG green and the Lebron RPA, but ehhh, I'm just going to continue to bump my price check threads instead.
