There isn’t a lot of congruency between mainstream narratives and the ideas and beliefs discussed in the content I listen to. I have a genuine interest in developing a better understanding of racial issues and police/civilian interactions, but this garbage ain’t it. I also don’t need it forced on me. I’m eager to consume real content on my own time, but when I turn on hoops, I just want to watch hoops.

Unless I'm missing something they brought it up for a couple minutes and that was it. I could be wrong, I'm half paying attention, but I didn't feel like they talked about it much.

I think you’re right, sadly. And I think that’s dangerous. I think it’s important that people have an outlet from a constant barrage of negativity, just from a psychological standpoint. It doesn’t mean they don’t care. And even if they don’t care, they shouldn’t have to.

Are we really at a point where constant negativity needs to be force fed to us until there are no negative events to discuss? We’ve set the bar at “impossible.”

Zero is the acceptable amount. I’m aware there’s a movement. The players do their thing before the games, the NBA has BLM commercials, they have t-shirts, jerseys, sayings on the court... I think that’s sufficient. Do we really need commentators bringing it up as well?

I genuinely don’t think the “change the channel then” crowd understands. There’s an appropriate time and place for everything. I believe it is important to maintain that to some degree.

If we take this to its logical conclusion, should the entire NBA broadcast be a discussion on police/civilian shootings? What about every show on every channel? Too far? Well you’re just not woke enough. You should set your TV on fire since you’re a racist and don’t care. There’s this constant game of one upsmanship to be the wokest of the woke, and as long as the line I draw is further down the road than the line you draw, I get to declare that I’m better than you for it.

But they don't and haven't dedicated the entire coverage to to police/civilian shootings. I don't even think they show the kneeling during the anthems anymore. Are they going to bring it up yes they are, they bring up non sports stuff all the time during broadcast, but it's not like it's this constant barrage of social commentary. I'm definitely not going to tell you how to feel, if it bothers you it bothers you, I just don't feel like they are going overboard with it at all..at least not during the games
