Love these guys for their overall career but stat accumulators in general.

Actually thought about taking him also. I guess I was afraid of voters later not even maybe knowing who he is. But great pick anyways IMO

Maybe with a little luck we can get through the swing tonight and everyone gets two picks today!

Everyone on this end of the draft anyways.

I would disagree.

Jaime Moyer was a stat accumulator. Thome had five 1.000-OPS seasons, along with a career .956 OPS (16th all-time, 12th if we remove the known PED users and the Coors Field beneficiary). After Beltre left Seattle, he was flat out one of the best hitters in baseball for about an eight-year stretch. Not to mention, his glove was second to none.

Assuming Thome was clean, I would argue that his story is almost tragic (in the context of baseball history, of course); had he put up those numbers in any other era, he would be regarded as an all-time great. But when McGwire, Sosa and Bonds are making a mockery of the record book, your 52-homer season doesn't seem too impressive at the time.

Assuming Beltre was clean too?

His 2004 season was very questionable, for sure.

I would agree with this unfortunately i will be looked at as partial because I am a Tribe fan. Unfortunately for Thome he will always be looked at weird because he played in the dirty era. If he played in another era you are right he would have been looked at as one of the best
