Are you like me and have nothing to do with no baseball (or any other sport for that matter) with everything going on in the world right now? Join our all-time redraft! We've done this before, but it's been awhile since we've had an all-time redraft, so why not get one going now?

The basics of it is everyone has a team and we snake draft 20 rounds, trying to assemble the best group of players as possible. At the end we'll have a series of polls to vote, and maybe someone will be willing to run some OOTP simulations as well, to determine the winner.

Your goal is to create the best all-time team that you can. Interpret that as you will.

I'd like to get to a full 30 teams, but if we can get to at least 20, I think that's the cutoff point to decide if we'll do this or not.

If you want to change your team name to a historical team i.e. Washington Senators, that is fine. Please wait until we're full though, ok?

Joining
After you have read and understand all the rules below, simply post in this thread with the team you would like to claim in order to grab a slot. First come, first serve. Understand that by joining, you are making a commitment to stay involved with this and do your best to create a successful team. If you're going to lose interest after 5 rounds, please don't sign up

Rosters
We will draft a 20-man roster. You are free to use these 20 slots however you'd like. Want to draft 20 shortstops? Go ahead, but prepare to be blasted in the voting process. It's probably a wise idea to have a starter at every position, a few bench players, a full rotation and a few bullpen arms, but if you want to try something different, be my guest. Similarly, there will be no positional requirements. If you want to play Albert Pujols in center field or have Gleyber Torres as your closer, go for it. That said, be prepared to try to justify your strategy to the voters.

All teams may use a DH if they so choose, regardless of their team is/was in the AL or NL.

Draft
There will be 20 rounds of drafting in the snake format, with teams randomized to determine the drafting order. Once the league is full, we'll have a mod random the list of teams and then we can begin.

All players in the history of baseball are on the table. You get the player over the full career. There's going to be some subjectivity in this, so it's hard for me to define how you should think of things. But again, your goal is to create the best all-time team as possible. Interpret that as you will and go from there.

Please submit your picks with the following formatting! Helps me out with seeing picks from normal discussion. Size 5, bold, and red-

Once the draft begins, I will create a Google Docs spreadsheet to keep track of results. I will post that at the top of the OP when we're ready for it.

Teams will have 24 hours to submit their pick. It is your responsibility to PM the owner with the next pick after you have submitted your pick! Note that you have notified the next owner that they are on the clock when you submit your post. If you need someone else to PM them for you, post that here and then whoever does PM the next person, post that you have done so. The draft clock starts when a PM is sent. If 24 hours pass without someone submitting a pick, their team will be skipped and we will continue on with the draft as normal. The team that was skipped may submit their pick anytime afterwards to catch back up. It is totally OK to PM another member (check with them first) with your top 2-3 picks and allow them to submit it on your behalf if you know you are coming up but you will be gone for awhile. In fact, this is encouraged (though not required) to keep the draft moving). If you fall too far behind, we will replace you. Again, please only join if you're committed to seeing this through.

Every year, there is always a big push to shorten the draft clock. That will not happen this year, so don't bother complaining about it. This is completely for fun as a way to pass time. At the same time, if you get a PM that you are up, please submit a pick in a reasonable amount of time. Don't be that guy that continually holds the draft up. There will be times where owners aren't around to submit their pick within an hour of being on the clock. That's understandable and that's how it goes. So be patient while waiting on others, and at the same time please do your best to submit picks in a timely manner. If a team continually takes more than 24 hours to submit their pick, they will be subject to replacement.

Trading/Adding/Dropping
No trading, adding, or dropping is allowed. No exceptions. Your team is determined by who you draft only.

Voting Process
This is how the voting process will work (assuming we are able to fill a full 30-team league. This is subject to change if we don't get 30 teams):

Voting will be done through the creation of threads with polls here in the baseball section. Each thread will list each team in alphabetical order, including all 20 of their players. Each team will also get 5 sentences to justify their picks/appeal to the voters if they so choose. Each poll will remain open for 1 week.

The divisional round will be based on current MLB Divisions- AL/NL, East/West/Central. If you change to a historical team, this may get messy. I'll do the best I can. The top 2 vote getting teams will move on to the next round, the ALCS/NLCS. Round 2 will have another poll, with the top vote getting from each league moving on to the World Series. Then whoever ends up with more votes in the final.

The wording of the poll will be: "Which is best all-time team?", followed by the list of the teams in alphabetical order. You are free to post justifications in the threads to try and convince voters why your team is the best.

Owners CAN vote in the polls. Vote for whoever you think has the best team. If you think that team is your own team, that is fine.
