Until I finish work on my display case, I can only display four P2020 cards. It changes every now and again, especially when I get something new in. I try to not repeat players or artists. Currently up:

Cartoon Jackie - I love Jackie and this card just makes me smile.
Thiele Koufax - Just came in last week (aftermarket buy) and it's incredible. Replaced Thiele Trout.
Rochester Trout - Need some trout up there and it was this or Fucci and this wins... for now.
Beck Gibson - Love the color and style and the life it gives to Gibson

Exactly my thought. My favorite Fucci so far.

Still regretting not getting some of the recent Grotesk and Ermsy releases. I missed last week's Ichiro. I'll grab todays Taylor for my PC, but those two are consistently growing on me.

Forgive me kevbojones, I copied your format.

Favorite card of each artist--Up to this point

Andrew Thiele - Derek Jeter, love the colors, beginning of his "busy" period. Hope he trends back to his early works.
Ben Baller - Rickey Henderson, blingy, but not over the top. Love the black and green.
Blake Jamieson: Mattingly. This was the card that made me start to take this set very seriously. The juxtaposition of the two pictures was brilliant. Would love to see some more of this and the McGwire. Those both were WOW cards.
Don C -Mays. Best of a weaker bunch.
Ermsy - Gibson. I'm sensing a theme of loving the colors personally. His first card that didn't just blow the cover off of everything. Understated, yet undeniably Ermsy.
Efdot -Jackie. I just LOVE this card. So much going on. Gwynn and Williams were both excellent as well.
Fucci-Williams. Great early card in the set. It just works, although the no face thing is still jarring to me.
Gregory Siff- If I am forced to pick one, I'm going with Gwynn. One of my least favorite artists, but everyone else loves him. I just don't get it.
Grotesk-Ryan. His cards all look very similar, and the colors just work for me.
Jacob Rochester - Ken Griffey. All his cards look like the players have lost about 20 pounds, but this one is pretty cool.
JK5 - Trout. Those eyes though! Love it.
Joshua Vides - Nolan Ryan............I guess................
Keith Shore - Brett. The angry Royal baseball head guy (Bo?) behind him and the peeping Tom in the outfield. Great card.
King Saladeen - Nolan Ryan. Beautiful card.
Matt Taylor - Jackie. Without a doubt. Such a cool card.
Mister Cartoon - Brett. The colors just work. Nice card.
Naturel -Brett again. Nice colors. The triangles really start to grow on you after a while.
Oldmanalan – Ted Williams--elegance and a massive vintage vibe.
Sophia Chang – Mike Trout. She killed it. Plain and Simple. Left this one alone. In full agreement.
Tyson Beck - Jackie Robinson---simply spectacular. Might be my favorite card of the set so far.

Fucci is an easy pass today

Taylor's Jackie seems to be lackluster vs that IG sneak peak. its almost as if he's removing colors from his cards with each passing one. it will be a "game time" decision

This exists because of the sport/players and their cards, but it's special because of the artists IMO. Though I understand this might be a minority POV.
I too am here for the artists. I wouldn't be collecting this set if it was just another reprint set. I see it as much more than that.

However, at the same time, I wouldn't be here collecting simply artist renditions of brand new cards. I'm here because they are supposed to be recreating "iconic" cards. They weren't commissioned to create their own cards. At least, that's how I understand the Project. If they would have come out in the beginning, making cards that look nothing like the originals they are supposed to be recreating, I wouldn't have been here in the beginning, and I doubt I would be missing much.

Just my opinion of course. There aren't many people that can honestly say, (and mean), they like this set more than I.

Here's to hoping the artists stay far away from a bait and switch type of product with more than half of the cards yet to come.

I don't. And I'm honestly a big fan of Oldmanalan's cards now.

I'm probably wrong, but I wouldn't have spent any money on them.

So you're probably right.

I’m at the point where only 8 artists surprise me anymore. The other 12 basically follow their same style every release, long past bored with them.

1) Oldmanalan - Refreshing and cohesive. Just a dream card set
2) JK5 - Coffee to Oldmanalan’s sweet tea.
3) Ermsy - A picture in motion
4) Baller - Creativity of the details are unmatched
5) Siff - Each release a blank canvas, you can just feel him reaching and searching for soul of each original
6) Taylor - Showtime
7) Cartoon - Sense of community
8) Don C - Any time you trace Griffey in the beach I gotta know what your next card is going to be

you bring up some good points. pretty ironic you are a big (L)OLDMANALAN fan now, as none of his cards look anything like the orginal! LOL

but i also have to wonder if the first 20 cards looked like carbon copies of the original, would we be here?

would we be here if Ermsy's Trout was #56 and not #4?

Exactly!

What I'm trying to say is this...

I wouldn't have purchased these cards had they started with Oldmanalan's version of these iconic cards because we can't see much of a resemblance.

Had all artists done this from the start, I wouldn't have been a buyer, and I would have never looked back.

There's no way of knowing, but I wonder how many complete set collectors we have now that would have been just like me? I know, I know...probably none. LOL!

Gotcha! I give the set a 5/10 so I don't feel total disgust towards it like some.

Maybe I’m just overly optimistic, but personally, I can’t help but put this set in a category of its own and assuming we don’t see any more crazy high PRs, cards 61-110ish would kinda be like this sets “commons”, selling for at or below the $15-20 price point. If cards 1-60 hold their value at 10x-100x cost, my hunch is that cards with PRs in the 3-6k range should hold value over MSRP. No?
Yea but the difference is the base aren't being hyped up the same way, like oh this is super duper special fellas! That's why they are all encased, it's a gimmicky/novelty thing. I don't have a problem with them being priced how they are, I just wouldn't pay that for those kind of cards, would've been cooler if the numbers were much lower, just my take.

Hey everyone, been lurking in the thread and occasionally posting but my main goal is a Jackie run then picking up whatever else is interesting.
Made this to keep track of the Jackie's so far and to try and predict which may be coming up.
While I like the Cartoon Jackie, I don't know if I will display it in order or with the other "interesting" ones (ex Ermsy, Fucci etc). Depends on where the artists go from here

So you're probably right.
There is likely a healthy ying and yang here, and it needed both to be successful. It'd be boring otherwise.

I come from such a different area than most posters here in that I was out of card collecting and never thought about getting back in to it again. Even really liking what I saw pop up on artists social media feeds I followed, I was still hesitant. Took me seeing a few from certain artist to finally wake up. So for me, seeing cards like their originals kept me out a bit, but I'd imagine too far one way or the other would have created issues

Baller up first brings his army in and nothing he does is offensive even if it's relatively dull to me. You then have two artists whose style largely stays within the confines of the original card, lull people in a bit. Then Ermsy, who may be out there for most card fans, but you combine him with the most popular current player. Then kind of expand from there, introduce new artists and styles, but reel doubters back in with safer artists with some history in the space with #12, 15, & 18 to bookend the introductory phase. Hindsight is 20/20, but looking at it now, it seems well balanced to get people on board.

These are what I'm using, and they hang. They are currently made in 5, 10 and 20-card frames:

I am starting to regret collecting Thiele. I may just sell off the collection and grab the first two Jackie's to complete his set.

At the end I will would have Jackie, Griffey and Jeter completed and will likely sell the Jeter because I'm not a huge Jeter fan I just feel he may be a popular resell.
