I wouldn't count on Simmons playing much, if at all this year. This is a pick for 2026 and beyond. It's going to be hard to beat out a professional LT (in-season) after he returns from injury. That's a tough ask. But, he is the best LT in the draft; he's just injured ATM.

I trust the chiefs did their research…consulted with his drs and all…sources say he will be ready for training camp ..I’m sure he can fill in as needed the first year, worst case full starter next year..either way, his film looks great…like I said, give Mahomes time in the pocket means SBs

The way I see it, it's either the last Left Tackle they'll ever need to protect Mahomes, or it's a wasted draft pick.

Still processing how I feel about the draft overall. Simmons is a giant boom or bust prospect. Their next two picks seemed to focus on lesser known pass rushers, and then a specialty corner.

The guy who might be worth getting a little excited about is Jalen Royals... who had a 2nd round grade but slipped to the end of the 4th because of a foot injury he had. If he works out, he could end up being the 3rd WR in the post Kelce Rice/Worthy/??? group/

I'd be very surprised if Simmons makes more than a few starts in 2025.
They can't risk a setback for no good reason.
It's a tough injury with long rehab.
...but excellent long term player.

The best part was definitely getting the 5th round pick basically free by knowing who the Iggles wanted in Campbell (and were going to get anyways).

If I remember correctly, card companies aren't allowed to use college numbers (or even guess at jersey numbers) for NFL cards after Topps used a bunch of college numbers in their first Inception release (2011). The NFLPA didn't like that and started officially requiring 00 if the player hasn't been assigned a number yet.

Most big name players get a number assigned early so that the organization can start selling their jersey asap.

Is anyone else a bit upset Mahomes is reduced to an 'Uptowns' card this year? So bad.
Downtowns are almost as big of a turd. I bought a 15/25 black pando jersey match Mahomes downtown awhile ago, but I am now very glad it never came and got refund. Downtowns have gone to pot.

...on the plus side, I have snagged a 2024 Smokescreen (Panini Black) and a couple Prolific (same set), but didn't like Pat's Vanta this year (2022 and 2023 Mahomes Vanta were good).

I was hoping for other good Mahomes inserts before Panini's done with the license. What else is out there that looks pretty darn good? (no cartoon or rainbow colored nonsene)

It's all pref... I don't like the look of most contenders at all. The pics of player are tiny... too much going on with all the writing (even tho they're not a RPA). Every set has its fanclub, though.

In terms of pure eye appeal on Mahomes RCs, hard to go wrong with good large pic cards: donruss/optic, select, prizm, panini base, gold team and The rookies and other inserts... even R&S or playoff (if you like the digitalized/cartoon type).

If you like the style of Vanta, check out the classic Donruss Night Moves inserts. I like the classic Donruss versions better than the ones from Clearly Donruss and Certified. Probably my favorite insert from Panini, but there are several others that I also chased







On the opposite end of the spectrum, I also love the simplicity of blank slate. Such a clean insert.

Those Night Moves are very cool... like a colorblast Origins - but more affordable and better looking imo.

Was not even aware of that insert... don't buy Donruss packs much/any (and it has about 30 types of insert, lol). That one must be very SSP / case hit (saw the checklist), looks good. Thanks.

Very low pop and condition sensitive set. PSA graded pop count (across all grades) of 7 in 2020, 18 in 2021, and 34 in 2022. Wish they would’ve kept insert in donruss instead of moving to Certified

Oddly enough, Royals' best comp in the NFL is Rashee Rice.

I think the Chiefs absolutely killed this draft. Nohl Williams has a very similar skill set to what L'Jarius Sneed had coming out of La Tech. I think this entire class could be 2022-ish in terms of overall impact. Plus they have absolutely cleaned up in the UDFA pool. Jake Briningstool and Elijhah Badger might've been stolen.

Plus, they snagged this freak of nature from Pitt...

I want to say it was about 700 (bgs9) when i bought it 2022, but can't even remember as I buy those type mostly to just hold. It's funny the red /99 aren't much more than regular version same grades.
