An ESPN article is a nice start (since you have to start somewhere). He obviously has to produce on the field, but baseball needs a guy w/ billboards in Time Square. Kids wearing Tatis shoes. A viable clothing line. You want him on GMA, Live w/ Kelly, Guest spots on TV, Podcasts, Business Journal articles, Late Night, etc. He has to appeal to the people in the streets of Brooklyn, just as much as he appeals to multi-millionaires in Manhattan high rises. You haven't hit global sports marketing, until the average house wife in America (that doesn't watch said sport) knows who you are by looking at your face in street clothes. Ex: Jeter, Jordan, Brady, LBJ, Kobe, etc. How many house wife's even know what sport Mike Trout plays...much less what he looks like.

Baseball deserves a global superstar! Acuna could be that guy...but I still think the language barrier is going to kill that for him.

Agree. He is the type of player that kids think is cool and make them want to play, he has that personality and will gain a large following. I know no one gives a #@#@#@#@ about fielding but it is important and it helped Griffey tremendously as well, and Bo Jackson.

All one can hope is that every Acuna Soto Tatis Guerrero so on and so forth will make Trouts less expensive. Carry on....

This didn't go as planned. Thought the chrome was at least a 9 with slight up and down OC. Everything else looked great.

I knew the 8.5 paper was OC and didn't expect much but though the 9.5 was an easy 10.

Feel like since I submitted on my own and not through a group that I didn't get the group sub advantage.

Anyways... They're for sale. Haha

Just a point of reference, but even in San Diego the current Padre players have been virtually invisible to the local fans off the field. Gone are the days of Tony Gwynn and Steve Finley hawking Toyota of Escondido, running blood drives, etc... It might be that the low profile is due to pandemic / only recent success, but it seems to me that the Best Players are more content to live with their $300-600M paychecks rather than dodging TMZ Sports and the paparazzi media to become a Jordan-like conglomerate. Trout and Jeter seem to fit this mold (vs ARod or even a Bryce Harper).

Man, I shouldn't say it, but if you time it right you can get steals buying on Amazon.

Right at the beginning of his price spike, I bought 3 cards of Tatis on Amazon.

1 Base Chrome rookie, 1 Prism refractor, and 1 base refractor for $100 shipped.

It's very rare to be honest to get a good deal on Amazon though, everything is priced over ebay most of the time.

The only times I got deals were these Tatis cards(to be honest, I was holding my breath if they would honor them or not), and last year I got a Bellinger Update Gold for $25.
