A little improvement tonight. Worked the count a few times, got a couple walks. Also got one out to the warning track. Not great by any means but still any progress helps. Also ends up scoring the winning run.

Good question. This is combatted with the fact that the M's are legitimate playoff contenders right now.

They only have 11 position players, with 2 catchers, so they have to play him for now. Jake Fraley will take his place when he come back from COVID-IR. He's going to make a rehab start Tuesday. What team carries 14 pitchers and 11 position players?

There's no point referencing other guys slow starts anymore at this point. Trout, Adell, hell even Brandon Wood, they all put up poor numbers that put Kelenic's statline to shame. This is truly uncharted bad start territory.

I think I'm at the point where I would trade him for Whit Merrifield straight up. Mariners should be set at outfield with Lewis, Julio, and Haniger in the future with Fraley and Trammell on the bench.

His K rate has gone from 15% in AAA to over 30% in the majors. Its bizarre, bordering on Keston. Seems strange that several players graded with plus hit tools are struggling to this extent.

Every stat has changed so dramatically from minors to majors, way beyond anything that makes sense. I own no meaningful Kelenic cards, but I will be buying a bunch of TC if his prices truly crater. I logically can't believe that the player we saw dominate the minors just disappeared into thin air.

377 ABs above low A.
208 ABs above A+.
125 ABs above AA.

Add in a year with no live at bats and it really shouldn't be at all surprising. He's been dramatically rushed through the minors.

Still close to 1000 PAs in the minors. I don't know what normal is, but that's not a small sample size.

I agree. They really rushed him. They would have been justified even starting him in AA this year given what he did in 2019. But everyone was sort of boxed into a corner by Kevin Mather's silliness earlier in the year.

Reminds me a lot of what the Twins did with Byron Buxton.
