Why would you assume they haven't been doing it all along?

My main concern is: how do we know that trimming is not rampant in the vintage card market (e.g., Jordan rookies, Wilt rookies, Russell rookies, etc.) where there are no serial numbers to leave this sort of paper trail? The same concern applies to modern cards that are also not serial numbered. These offenders are unlikely to get caught. Vintage cards also happen to be the most common cards that we see auctioned off on sites like PWCC and they see large jumps in price for each level bump in grade that they receive. This is the main reason why I have, for the most part, steered clear of paying for high grade examples of cards with higher print runs and have instead focused my PC on rare cards with short print runs.

It is terribly rampant in vintage and there are ways to tell. This thread is blowing up!:

Thank you for calling attention to this. All these items were ended, and we will review the evidence presented against the physical cards. If we confirm that the cards were altered we will work through our process with the grading company and with the submitter. Details of this process will be included in our Marketplace Tenets which will be released in the coming weeks.

Looking for rare Jameis Winston rookies (Prizm White Sparkle, Gold Vinyl, etc), 1/1's and jersey #'d stuff.

Can't wait to read about your process for dealing with altered cards and their submitters, and the graders.
