What CGC is doing right now to the certain comic submissions can kill PSA and BGS. I'm not going to give them an idea, but I know if they do what they are doing in comic and do it to the sports. They can overtake both of them easily.

You mean pressing comics and boosting their grades? So the scammer/trimmers/doctors will actually be INSIDE the house?

Heck, alterations may become a value-add upsell instead of a no-grade frowny face, and all this fuss will have been for nothing.

The label isn't as bad as people are making it out to be.

BGS look the best, no comparison in that regard, but PSA look sort of crappy but we're so used to seeing it.

I think this CGC label would look better if the number were smaller and not overlapping the bottom green border.

Also change the font used for the grade number and player name.

I’ll take PSA over BGS all day long

I hate BGS slabs (and yes I have owned hundreds)

I'm not talking about the case itself, just the display of the grade/logo

Boulderdash! PSA look like something you'd see slapped on a patient folder at a doctors office in the 90s

As far as PSA grading I prefer the sticker that doesn't have the PSA logo on the bottom.

oh man---every graded comic i look at from my comic shop does not fit the holder. every one trimmed now. the white flare at the bottom and right side always-shaved just a smidge.

or, some of the older key books have been trimmed numerous times, leaving a 1/8 gap in the holder--top/bottom, side to side.

cloaks, flaming carrot, almar_ent, ---all trim their graded books. They list en mass after a graded/trimmed shipment from cgc. I watch all of this closely.

I do not believe CGC trims anything. They try to detect that, and if so you get restored or altered grade instead. Perhaps some get by, but grading isnt perfect.

I don't think Pressing will hold that much benefit to cards as with comics as you can send in chromium cards with slight warp and it hasnt effected any of my grades. Time in the slab will press itself out anyhow.

I'm very interested for them entering the market, because their case is miles above the CBCS case for comics (owned by beckett) so I'm curious how their case will feel in hand.

They'll take some time to grab true market share but they are a big enough outfit to make a splash. They'll attend shows, etc. in the future and market their product. Never underestimate the power of the email list. And their channel is huge with comic book store owners, collectors etc, who with the resurgence of sports cards will get more older collections coming out and getting graded with someone they are already familiar with.

Add, they are big enough to take a loss in the beginning and still market the product. Add, the same can be said of their relationships with coin dealers and serious collectors.

CGC has hired Andy Broome as lead grader. He has been the lead vintage grader for Beckett for a long time. Not sure if this is good or not.

He does seem to have a lot of respect in the vintage community and experience.
However, BVG grades suck. Maybe that is a restriction on the Beckett grading structure for vintage?

Do the CGC holders not have the arrowhead indentation for the corners?

While I am venting, I think their cert area is too tall and I do not like centering the fonts on the label.

If they find a niche and that niche allows all of the other companies backlogs to be cleared then god bless.

Exactly. Left justify that text and label immediately becomes competitive with PSA.

For how much money those companies make, that is an absolute travesty
