According to my LCS owner, there's a Covid outbreak at the Topps warehouse and that has delayed shipping product. I think that "Covid outbreak" is code for "Bowman's Best has to be reprinted."

You misread that. The rookies are correctly labeled. What was referenced is that the entire set is numbered 1-100 instead of having the prospects be TP-1-TP-30.

I love Bowman's Best and Finest. Two of my favorite Topps baseball products.

Every year I think this may be the year I grow a pair and finally buy a full hobby case of Bowman's Best or Finest.

But then I sober up.

The prospects have never been advertised as inserts or labeled on the checklist as inserts. They've always advertised a 100 card base set. The way they are numbered is irrelevant.

since the 2006 RC Logo change, Prospects are never part of a Base Set, and are numbered differently

any card that is numbered as part of the base set, is a base card. if a player has a base card in the base set for the first time, it is their RC

It's a technicality and a possible interesting footnote but unless they slap the RC logo on them I doubt its more than a blip in the hobby. I agree w/ autionjmn- the way they are numbered means little I think.

no, most people are not so smart.

there will be a small minority of us that will be disappointed.

So according to your methodology are all 2022 Wander cards with a rookie logo no longer rookies? Including his 2022 Topps Series 1 card?

I get that. If they number the prospect cards incorrectly, you're not wrong, the 1st year they have a standard base card is their RC year by definition.
Im past being disappointed by Topps NUMEROUS trapper keeper problems since I returned to the hobby. Things like this are so prevalent that they become almost moot over time to me. Problem is there are many factors going against any real traction for the card IMO:
-Presumably no RC logo
- Bowman's Best is pretty fringey. Haven't there been a few instances in recent years where Prospects had their debut year cards land only in BBest, the year before their Bowman Chrome cards are made and those who hoarded or coveted the "1st year" BBest cards spend the next few years trying to explain to everyone else that they are technically the "only 1st year" cards available?
-BCA 1st autos are coveted, BC 1st chromes are coveted, RC logo cards are coveted. But only when Topps puts these stamps it on the card. The rest is just a few people screaming from the rooftops.."But Pache had chromes last year!"

The masses generally like what Topps tells them to like via the often inaccurate stamp it seems.
