Wonder if he made the checklist considering what just happened.

I dont see how that's hiding money

I have an Ex-wife and any money that goes her way is as good as gone. It does sound like it was for child or spousal support.

In general though, it doesnt seem like a cancel culture event.

He was convicted of hiding assets from a bankruptcy. Transferring money was a part of it. Not saying he should be banned forever or tear down his statue in Germany. He may have hurt his image in tennis and may not be good for marketing, if they get the Topps Chrome going soon.

When it's formally announced by Topps (info and pics), it will be on BlowoutBuzz.com within minutes. That will also include a pre-order link within the preview.

Hope it’s done in the same style as F1 chrome. With the players standing up for the base cards and the autograph cards!

When’s the release date?

Transcendent was a very poor set. The cards just looked too old fashioned with the styling! Plus the cards don’t seem to hold much value, except for the the Federer and Osaka cards!

Checklist was awful for Transcendent too. Tennis a lot harder than the other sports to get a Topps rep to the players to sign for but no excuse to not have a good base set

I have no idea how licenses for tennis work. I would think it would just be between Topps and the ATP/WTA, but there has to be a reason Nadal, Novak, and Serena weren't in Transcendent. Fed has far and away the most big exclusive sponsorships and they got him into Transcendent. Who knows. Missing Nadal, Novak, and Serena again would be a gigantic dissapointment. Autos of everyone would be nice, but even just base and parallel's will be enough to carry the product a long way.

I am fairly certain that tennis is tough sport to get a good checklist because 1.) it's an international sport with players that speak all different languages and live in different parts of the world throughout the year, 2.) each player and/or agent needs to be contacted as the ATP/WTA has no real control over them (no salaries are provided, just prize money), 3.) card companies have limited knowledge of tennis, and 4.) some players could care less about signing cards for money (djokovic & nadal)

And that seems to be the main problem with Topps, they need to bring in a specialist with extended knowledge of what would bring the "wow factor" to tennis products. (Psst, hey Topps I'm available for the right price).

Tennis to me could be amazing done right;

Imagine a Fully Loaded type set with signed Gut Check cards (strings from used racquet) and Get a Grip cards (used handle grip from racquet) and Net cards.

Imagine Sonic Boom cards (wow, a Kaboom set that makes sense) featuring the hardest hitting servers in the sport with their top MPH on the card.

Imagine Center Court booklet cards with an overview of Center Court stadium photography and two competitors on each side showcasing the greatest matches of all time (McEnroe/Borg, Chang/Lendl, Nadal/Joker, etc.)

Mixed Doubles dual auto cards featuring a top male/female athlete from each era or the male and female winners from a specific Grand Slam.

It's really underdeveloped and since we are living in the era of the greatest male Grand Slam champions of all-time it should really be done justice.

This would be amazing!!

But yea, similar issues with a tennis set as with golf. The UD golf sets from last year have been underwhelming on the whole. Hoping SP Authentic will be better with on-card autos. But not a comprehensive checklist. Some big names missing.

Djoker needs to be in there if Fed and Nadal are...

Also, there's some good young talent on the men's side they should include like Alcaraz, Sinner, Rublev, Brooksby, Musetti. Most people don't realize it, but Nadal was an afterthought in the Netpro releases... At the time Kournikova, Seles, Roddick and Fed were the big draws.

Novak typically sells for more than Rafa or Fed with the exception of the 2003 Netpro /100 glossy series and Federer's 2003 Netpro International Series /25 RPA & /25 Jersey cards. To date he has very few cards. The 2006 Ace Authentic RCs are limited to runs of /599 /256 and around /100 and typically sell in the 3K-20K range. Whereas Nadal and Fed have base cards numbering around 100,000 along with serial numbered releases. The later limited Ace Authentic releases still favor Djokovic because most people can't afford his rookie cards -- and he was not included in any of the Leaf releases after they acquired Ace Authentic.

So... anybody have any more details? Or just that it's being released sometime later this year? Topps is leaving me hanging.

Nice GIF!

Definitely a big shock. Heck of a career, shame as a tennis fan that it was so short. Maybe it's wishful thinking but I wonder if she'll be back at some point even just to play the Australian swing. She'd be guaranteed wild cards as long as she would want them.
