Provided you are investing prudently, Tatis, Soto, and Acuna are all pretty darn good investments. We have seen what they can actually do rather than just having to speculate about what they COULD do. Potential is one thing, realizing it is another. Hits come in waves (see Acunas start to the season). Don’t freak during a streak, one way or the other. They are called batting AVERAGES for a reason.

Agreed and I think he will recover fine without question.
But when Tatis bats .400 with 4 homers over 10 games, his cards go up 100 percent
If he bats under. 100 over 10 games, his cards might go down a little bit

Truth.

It’s natural for the market to respond to short term performance. It’s definitely sticking your head in the sand to say Tatis hasn’t been struggling as of late, but people who understand baseball aren’t heading for the hills.

I would just advise not to get too aggressive buying when a player is hot or panic when they are cold. I feel that the basketball mentality is being superimposed onto baseball now that the investing focus is shifting and it doesn’t really fit. People are setting themselves up for heartache on both overspending and panic selling. Baseball is just a different animal.

But with Tatis, I've really been able to open it up and just look at everything that was produced for him in 2019 and have a much larger palette to work with. It's been a lot of fun learning about other issues I never collected before and I've even bought a couple of pairs of pajamas.

I'm in it for the fun and this has been a lot more fun than the Acuna/Soto turkey poop was. Now I just need to fire up the scanner...

I completely agree...have bought a lot of cards and products I didnt think I would going into 2019. So scan away and show them off please!

It occurred to me last night that Tatis’ dry spell started right after he copped this hit to his right forearm against the Rockies. I remember worrying at the time that it did some damage, especially with the way he fell to his knees.

Tatis had 10 hits in the 28 AB prior to that game with 8 SO. Since he has had 2 hits in his last 28 with 6 SO. To a point someone made earlier in this thread, he is actually isn't getting beat anymore than he was a few weeks ago, he just doesn't look to be hitting them as sweetly. That is certainly what it feels like when I watch him also, grounding out a lot etc.

It's only been about 10 days since he was hit. I could imagine any damage sustained having an impact on his swing rhythm / power in the following days - especially considering its that back arm. After that it becomes a mental thing, getting your mojo back etc.

Of course, correlation != causation. A slump can just be a slump. I'm sure the club wouldn't let Tatis play hurt, but I thought it was interesting timing nonetheless less.

That may explain a few uncharacteristically shaky throws from shortstop recently as well.

So I’ve been pretty frustrated with PSA and a dozen plus orders that are significantly overdue so decided to try BGS. This is my first and only card submitted to them. Got back today. Might be sending more that way in the future.

He's been swinging like he's injured. I wasn't able to watch the Dodgers series, so I haven't seen him for a few days. I'll get another look at him tonight. I hope the day off helped.

Thanks! Yeah I was shocked to say the least. I didnt think it looked "perfect" at all and just wanted to get it slabbed and not wait 3 months.

Get this guy out of the lineup for a game or two... playoffs are locked in... I can't bear to watch someone who I am pulling for so hard continue such a HUGE struggle. Need Tatis to get back on track before the playoffs so he can go on to win NLCS MVP and WS MVP .

But right now, I don't mind my former favorite player (might still be), Manny Machado continuing to tear it up...

But want Tatis and Machado both going good at the same time.
