It'll be interesting to see how France handles their issues. Their ideology is basically that everyone needs to come together more.. but it's just not working.

Minimizing harm is important. I concede that point. But is that the most important thing? I will not concede that point.

We live in a world that has dangers everywhere. Much like other risks, including car accidents, Covid, whatever else, we balance those risks as best we can. We do not like risk but we accept it as part of life and mitigate it appropriately.

I get it. People think immigrants are a risk. People think other people are risky...the unknown. But the problem I have with banning people based on religion or nationality outweighs the risk for me. I can honestly say I would rather die as a non-racist/non-nationslist than live as a racist/nationalist. The same applies to religious discrimination.

We need to find another way to limit that risk. Banning Muslims or Mexicans from being included in our legal immigration or legal Visa processes is simply not who I want to be. I think it's not who America wants to be.

Ban a$$holes, not Muslims. If you can't separate the two and figure out which Muslims are a$$holes, I get it. Neither can I. But I do not want to be that person that discriminates based on religion. I'd rather risk death. I think America as a whole agrees.

The fear for everyone on the right in congress was always that if you spoke out against Trump, or at the very least didn't go hand and hand w/ his ideas; you could be cast out of the party and the movement. With Trump gone, these members of congress are free to cast aspersions on Biden without fearing retribution from their base. And never again will they have to answer question after question about what Trump has said and how the President blah blah blah.

They're dancing. Fox News is dancing (many conservative outlets I would imagine). The republican party was effectively able to get rid of Trump AND expand their reach in minorities, in states and in Federal congress.

So you are saying that even the Republican Party recognizes that Trump needed to go.

That's been my impetus for even posting in this thread.

To be fair, cops have a culture of violence. Their purpose is to enforce acceptable behavior by legally employing unacceptable behavior if necessary. Also, cops come from all religions, nationalities, and races. "Cop" is a choice of profession. It is unlike what we are currently discussing.
