In 1974 I traded a Topps 1953 Mantle (I got two in an attic find) for 5 commons to complete a set. I kept the cleaner one, which is PSA5, but wasn't a lot better. Can't remember who I got in return. But back then a Mantle wasn't 50 times as valuable as commons.
