I love it. More Hicks too please. Bring Gallo back. Gary Sanchez too. 2023 is looking great.

I really hope Cashman is just talking stuff up about Hicks and Donaldson to try and get someone interested in trading for them. If not, the man is clearly delusional and deserves to be fired and sent to a mental hospital.

Donaldson had a wRC+ of 97 and an ops+ of 94, wtf analytics are they using?

3B as a whole hit .247/.316/.409 vs .222/.308/.374 Forget about how much he costs, he's awful. He does apparently still have high exit velocity, but he can't hit the ball consistently. This seems like a whole lot of computing power to say "yeah he's old, every now an then he'll hit one hard but that doesn't happen often enough anymore."

I'm taking Cashman's words about Donaldson with a grain of salt. He HAS to say that stuff if he has desire to trade.

Can't bash him in the media and then expect someone to help you pay his salary.

Although, he could just as easily be the 3B next year.

Exactly. Now if he truly believes in him and makes no effort to trade him thats another story.

Yeah but who is he trying to fool? This isnt like trading baseball cards in elementary school. Cashman was the one dumb enough to trade for this guy. It's not like all the other gms dont look at the stats. None of them are like "oh wow, the yankees think he still has value, I better trade for him."

GMs will use anything and everything to gather levarage. That includes publicly denouncing one of your players.

They have zero leverage. The guy is washed up and cant back up his mouth anymore. It's not rocket science, the only way they could possibly get rid of him is to pay the whole salary or throw in prospects. Nobody other than talk radio callers would be fooled by Cashmans words. Everyone in baseball knows he sucks.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. Especially when you are talking about a guy who still plays great 3B, hits the ball hard, and draws walks.

He had a .827 OPS in 2021. He had a really bad year offensively in 2022 and this might be the beginning of the end but other GMs see that as an opportunity rather than a disease.

To say Yankees have zero leverage is just wrong.

Package Volpe with Stanton and send to Miami. You give them their SS for the next 15 years and they have a homegrown “superstar” returning to give them pop and sell tickets.
Package Torres with Donaldson. Giving a team a 2b under control for 4 years for taking Donaldson
Let Judge walk
Sign Boagarts and Trea Turner to play Ss/2b. Those guys will hit in the playoffs and energize this team.
Cabrera in right Peraza in left.
DJ at third
Rizzo stays at first

This is so unCashman like I love it. That being said not a snow balls chance it happens.

Wait wai...what do we get for Volpe/Stanton???? (Which doubles MIA payroll unless we are sucking it up Dave Justice style)

Bag of balls. We eat zero. Doesn’t have to be Miami but just threw it out there as a partner given Stantons history there as far as ticket sales.
To get a prospect like Volpe, Stantons contract going forward isn’t horrible especially if he can become the player he was in Miami.

You get pitching from Miami. Even if it’s minor league. You get pitching everywhere to replace the good pitchers we traded away at the deadline last year

I love how this blowout brain trust thinks you are getting anything from a Stanton trade. Especially pitching from Miami.

Donaldson sucks, he is terrible and the no analytics can prove that wrong.

The Yankees need to; sign judge, sign Xander or Turner; sign someone in the bullpen who is not Chapman or zach, bring rizzo back, promote volpe and sign DeGrom

Yeah I think most teams need to sign Judge, DeGrom and Boegarts.

According to Rosenthal, the Yankees are going to go heavily after Judge and Rizzo and may stop there other than adding a left handed bat. Then they'll sprinkle in the two Orlando's.

Astros are going after Rizzo too to replace Guriel.

I think they should have just pulled the trigger with Miami at the deadline and traded Torres for the Miami pitcher. Every time there's a rumor about Torres, he slumps. Put DJ back at 2nd or move IKF there if they don't want to sign someone.

If the Astros sign Rizzo (which I see as a very VERY real possibility) then Yankees will either have to go balls to the wall in acquisitions or start a rebuild/retool.

You can't lose arguably your 2nd highest offensive contributor to the team that easily swept you and expect a different result. Especially if you end up losing your highest offensive contributor as well.

My feeling is the Yanks need a table setter. Someone who can get on base regularly and make things happen. With the new limited throw over rule next year for pitchers, stolen bases should see a nice uptick. #1 should be resigning Judge. He's a profit monster for the Yanks and he's just a great baseball player and leader in that clubhouse. Next should be the table setter, Trea Turner. 3rd, address the 1st base situation. If they can't resign Rizzo, then go get Josh Bell. He's probably going to be cheaper and he's a switch hitting bat. Lastly, with Torres under control for a couple more years, let's move him and another player(not sure who) and go get Bryan Reynolds. Another great bat and fielder. And yet another switch hitting bat. Pitching seems to be fine. I'd say Rodon but don't think Hal is willing to spend THAT much $$$. Your starting 9 would be C- Trevinio 1B - Rizzo or Bell 2B- Turner/Volpe/ Peraza SS - Turner/Volpe/Peraza 3B - LeMahieu LF - Reynolds CF - Bader RF - Judge DH - Stanton. Cabrera is your Super Utility. That's a nice and affordable lineup for the Yanks in their market!!
