This is funny to think about, but it's the type of movement I expect Luhnow to make. Something nobody really saw coming.

It would definitely take that kind of deal, I'd imagine.

Should be a fun offseason for the Mets. They'll have some money to spend with Granderson, Bruce and Duda coming off the books (hopefully they also let Walker and Cabrera walk).

Guy is a legit 37 / 100 .275 type guy and still has legit trade value in most GM's eyes.

I can't see deGrom being traded at this point. Maybe in a year or so but this team is not gonna do a total rebuild right now.

You blasphemous sunuvabitch... Although it makes sense to my head, my heart never wants to see Darvish in another uniform.

Welcome to the 2017 Rangers.

They need to restock for the long-term and they need a few BP arms.

Be realistic with yourself. Our timeline never included this year. We're not on the same level as the Astros, Red Sox, Yankees, etc- Not yet. We don't have a realistic shot of going all the way, especially with how our team and a few of our players have cooled off since earlier in the year. It makes no sense to trade some good assets for a half year rental. Hold onto what we have so we have guys worth trading when we ARE true contenders. We're close to being able to be buyers of more than a mid tier bullpen arm, but not yet

Now, as I said in my original post, if we're talking about trading for someone that's under control for a few years, then that's an entirely different situation

This right here is why nobody takes the good majority of Cubs fans seriously. Good god.

Yankees have lost 17 of their last 23. Sure sounds playoff worthy to me.

...and your point is?

If they continue playing like they have recently, they'd be lucky to even be .500 at the end of the season, let alone making the playoffs.

I'm a seller. Darvish, Lucroy, and Profar at least. I feel like the team could still be competitive moving those 3 guys for prospects + bullpen arm. Or maybe I'm a buyer. Can't make up my mind. I just hope they do SOMETHING that puts them in a better position than they are now.

I know you have your WS/Q blinders on but its very obvious we are getting healthy after many key injuries. .500 is a pipe dream for you guys.

You're aware the White Sox are rebuilding, right? Right?

So the 6-17 skid they're on right now is more indicative of the team's true capabilities than what they had done the first couple months.

You can't talk out of both sides of your mouth. Either they're a playoff team in your mind or they're rebuilding. Not both.

Whats funny about this is thats exactly what is happening. They are in rebuilding mode AND STILL a legitimate playoff team.

By whose definition? The Yankees have the money to rebuild and make a run at the playoffs. Rebuilding doesn't always have to be with homegrown prospects. You can rebuild with a combination of both and still be good enough to make the playoffs. Not every team has to be the White Sox or Phillies or have to rebuild for years and still be irrelevant to the sport.

You're not wrong but how do you expect the Yankees to make the playoffs this year if your fanbase doesn't want to trade any of your good prospects for a frontline starter?

I hate to break it to you but the Yankees are nowhere near good enough to contend for a World Series as it sits right now. At this point they'd be lucky to just get in the playoffs at all.

Lol at pretending the Yankees have been unhealthy. Ellsbury? Who else has been such a huge loss?

Hey now, nobody can touch the Browns when it comes to a rebuild. They're kind of like the City itself, under construction since 1868
