At some stage we have to show respect to players that sacrifice meaningless stats for a role in a winning team.

Manu had 2 seasons where he was top 10 in MVP voting if I recall. I would take Manu any day of the week over say, a Melo, who's a lock and has more All Stars etc

Iggy looks to be in the same boat.

I wouldn't necessarily say Iguodala's career after Philly was a sacrifice. It's just a more natural view of his game. Maybe not THAT extreme of an 8 PPG game or so guy, but those 18+ ppg years.. that was just Philly trying to make him the #1 option after trading Iverson. It didn't work. To me, his last year in Philly when he averaged 12.4 a game and played point-forward was the best encapsulation of who he is. He just wasn't good enough to be a top option.

Marbury certainly gets in for what he's done over in China. I think it is much more important for the sport in general for someone to do what he did in a foreign country than what many HOF players simply did in the NBA. Not to mention that although he's certainly had his share of bizarre moments, that he's also been more generous and good for communities than many players. I just wish he could have worked it out with KG and the Wolves. That combo would have been beastly if they kept it together.

Decent article about his journey:

Do you understand the assignment? All the names being listed here are because we think they will not get into the HOF. Move along chap.

Marbury should definitely not get in.

I remember hearing that when he was with the Nets, he used to have his family come in and take home the postgame leftovers. LOL .. and how his Dad would attend games and sit in nice seats that weren't his until security had to tell him to beat it.

Ha. Wasn't from the article. Should've been postgame leftovers, aka the food spread.

Hey Chap, literally every post has declared some scrub a hall of famer. If Jimmer sets career scoring marks in China, you think he should get voted in? A dude who couldn’t make an NBA roster like Marbury? Andre igoudala are you kidding me???

Time to put Brian Scalabrine in the HOF because of his impact on basketball memes. Am I doing this right?

So what do you think about Vlad Divac? Marbury has a better NBA career than him and probably had a better career outside of USA. As for players like Jimmer, who has almost no presence in the NBA, but has achieved amazing things outside of USA, I believe that the standards for HOF need to be set higher, like if he wins 8 plus titles, with multiple MVPs.

Iggy is a Finals MVP.

Manu has finished top 10 in MVP voting twice.

We're not talking about your boy Scalabrine here.

I never said anything about Brian Scalabrine so no clue what you’re talking about. Okay Dale Murphy actually WON two MVPs and he’s not in the baseball HOF. Dexter Jackson won Super Bowl MVP and he’s not in the football HOF. Sure go ahead and put them in just make it the Hall of Good Players and not the actual HOF.

Sorry averaging 12 points and 5 boards while making one All-Star team are not HOF credentials but sure put him in!!! Might as well throw in Robert Horry while we’re at it.

To be fair, Manu made 2 All-Star teams.

Those are Igoudala’s credentials. Looks like Manu averaged 13/3/3

These aren't.....

4x NBA Champion
2x NBA All Star
2x All NBA team
1x 6th Man Award winner

3x Italian League All Star
2x Italian Cup winner
2x Italian League MVP
2x FIBA Americup Gold medal winner
1x FIBA Americup MVP
1x FIBA World cup Silver medal winner
1x Euro League Champion
1x Italian League Champion
1x Italian Cup MVP
1x Summer Olympic Games Gold medal winner
1x Summer Olympic Games Bronze medal winner

1 of 2 players ever to win a Euro League Championship, an NBA Championship and a Gold medal.

I would agree that if this was solely an NBA HOF he shouldn't get it, but it isn't. And based off the criteria he is a first ballot HOF'er and it isn't close.

Which is why it’s watered down and thought the least of among the major sports’ HOF’s. Hell the boxing HOF is more legit than basketball.
